Renato Abdala Karam Kalil

Graduado em Medicina pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1970), Mestrado (1980) e Doutorado (1987) em Medicina: Cardiologia, pela Universidade Federal do RS. Professor Titular do Departamento de Clínica Cirúrgica da UFCSPA (Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre). Coordenador do Núcleo de Cardiopatias Congênitas do Hospital Moinhos de Vento, como Chefe da Cardiologia e Cirurgia Cardíaca Pediátricas. É Cirurgião Cardiovascular, Pesquisador e Professor Emérito do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Cardiologia, do Instituto de Cardiologia do RS - Fundação Universitária de Cardiologia (IC-FUC), Instituição onde foi Coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação (Mestrado e Doutorado) de 1999 a 2002, Diretor Científico de 2002 a 2011 e Coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação Mestrado Profissional em Processos de Pesquisa e Inovação em Saúde de 2013 a 2017; No IC-FUC, criou entre outras iniciativas, o Laboratório de Cardiologia Molecular e Celular, o Centro de Pesquisa Clínica (CEPEC-FUC) e o Centro de Telemedicina. Preside a Cooperativa dos Cirurgiões Cardiovasculares do Rio Grande do Sul desde agosto 2012; Diretor de Comunicação (Gestão 2008-2009) e Diretor de Pesquisa (2010-2011) da Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia - SBC; Diretor Científico da Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Cardiovascular (2016-2020); Pesquisador PQ2 do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Membro Titular do Comitê de Assessoramento da Área de Medicina (CA-MD) CNPq (2005-2010). Coordenou a Rede Gaúcha de Terapia Celular (2010-2014), com apoio FAPERGS/CNPq/PRONEX. É membro das seguintes Sociedades Científicas: Sociedade Gaúcha de Cirurgia Cardiovascular, Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Cardiovascular, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (USA), Sociedade de Cardiologia do RGS, Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia - SBC, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology e American Association for the Advancement os Science. Membro do Conselho Editorial da Revista Brasileira de Cirurgia Cardiovascular / Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery e dos Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia - SBC. Tem experiência na área de Cardiologia, atuando em Cirurgia Cardiovascular de Adultos e Cirurgia Cardíaca Pediátrica. Linhas de pesquisa principais: Fibrilação Atrial, Cirurgia Cardiovascular e Biologia Molecular Aplicada à Cardiologia.

Graduated in Medicine by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1970), Master (1980) and Doctorate (1987) in Medicine: Cardiology, Federal University of RS. Full Professor of the Department of Surgical Clinic of UFCSPA (Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre). Coordinator of the Congenital Heart Disease Center of Moinhos de Vento Hospital, as Head of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. He is a Cardiovascular Surgeon, Researcher and Professor Emeritus of the Postgraduate Program in Cardiology, at the Cardiology Institute of RS - University Foundation of Cardiology (IC-FUC), Institution where he was Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program (Master's and Doctorate) 1999 to 2002, Scientific Director from 2002 to 2011 and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program Professional Masters in Processes of Research and Innovation in Health from 2013 to 2017; In IC-FUC, it created, among other initiatives, the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, the Clinical Research Center (CEPEC-FUC) and the Telemedicine Center. He has been the President of the Cooperative of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Rio Grande do Sul since August 2012; Director of Communication (Management 2008-2009) and Director of Research (2010-2011) of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology - SBC;Scientific Director of the Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery (2016-2020);Researcher PQ2 of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). Full Member of the Advisory Committee of the Medicine Area (CA-MD) CNPq (2005-2010). He coordinated the Gaucho Network for Cell Therapy (2010-2014), with support from FAPERGS / CNPq / PRONEX. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (USA), Society of Cardiology of the RGS, Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC), American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and American Society of Thoracic Surgeons. American Association for the Advancement of Science. Member of the Editorial Board of the Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery / Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery and the Brazilian Archives of Cardiology - SBC. Has experience in the area of Cardiology, acting in Cardiovascular Surgery of Adults and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. Main lines of research: Atrial Fibrillation, Cardiovascular Surgery and Molecular Biology Applied to Cardiology.
