Graduação em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1986), Mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1990) e Doutorado na Alemanha pela Rheinisch-Westfalischen Technischen Hochschule/RWTH Aachen (1995). Professor Titular da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Depto. de Eng. Mecânica e líder do grupo de pesquisa Núcleo de Materiais Cerâmicos e Compósitos (CERMAT). Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Mecânica e de Materiais, com ênfase em "Near Net Shape Powder-based Manufacturing", atuando principalmente em temas afins a materiais cerâmicos e compósitos, rotas de síntese de pós a baixas temperaturas e ablação a laser (LAL), processos especiais de consolidação de pós (SPS), biomateriais, energia superficial e interfacial, blindagem balística, manufatura aditiva,, PIM e análise do comportamento mecânico de materiais de engenharia.

Has experience in the area of #8203;#8203;Mechanical and Materials Engineering, with emphasis on "Near Net Shape Powder-based Manufacturing", working mainly on topics related to ceramic and composite materials, powder synthesis routes at low temperatures and laser ablation (LAL) , special powder consolidation processes (SPS), biomaterials, surface and interfacial energy, ballistic shielding, additive manufacturing, PIM and mechanical behavior analysis of engineering materials.
