Maryualê Malvessi Mittmann

Doutora em Estudos Linguísticos pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2012). É graduada em Letras (2004) e mestre em Linguística (2006) pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Atuou na equipe técnica e científica de elaboração do corpus C-ORAL-BRASIL I, um corpus de referência do Português Brasileiro falado informal, publicado pela editora da UFMG. Tem experiência profissional no ensino superior em Língua Portuguesa e Metodologia da Pesquisa, bem como no ensino de Português para estrangeiros. Seu trabalho de pesquisa tem ênfase na estrutura do discurso falado e estudos baseados em corpus. Realiza pesquisas no âmbito da oralidade e da pragmática, utilizando técnicas computacionais para pesquisa em prosódia e estrutura da informação no discurso falado em uma perspectiva interlinguística. Interessa-se pela interface entre linguagem, pensamento e cultura.

M. M. Mittmann holds a PhD degree in Linguistic Studies (2012) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). She also has an undergraduate degree in Letters (2004) and is Master of Linguistics (2006) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). In his doctoral dissertation, she studied the functional, morphosyntactic, semantic and prosodic features of the Topic information unit, based on spontaneous speech data. She was part of the technical and scientific team for the preparation of the C-ORAL-BRASIL I corpus, a language resource for the study of spoken Brazilian Portuguese, published by UFMG. She did two internships at the University of Florence, Italy, where she worked together with the LABLITA team in the preparation of an online language database for the research on information structure of spoken Brazilian Portuguese. She is an experienced teacher at college level, teaching Portuguese for Brazilians and Foreigners, as well as Linguistics and Research Methods. Her research work in linguistics has emphasis on language in use, corpus based research, information structure of spontaneous speech and language variation. Currently, she develops research on the information structure of utterances in spontaneous speech, speech segmentation into prosodic units and its relation with information/pragmatic functions.
