Mário Sérgio Teixeira de Freitas

Mario Sergio Teixeira de Freitas is PhD in Physics and has recelntly retired from UTFPR-Curitiba (2018), where he directed dissertations and promoted lectures, courses, workshops and extension events with an emphasis on the connection between scientific and artistic languages. Has complementary training and curriculum production in the area of ​​Arts. His photography and drawing works have been reproduced in several periodicals and art books. Since 2007, he has collaborated with commented photographs for the website EPOD (USRA / NASA), which publishes Earth Sciences, and has had accepted two-dimensional and three-dimensional works for Brazilian and foreign art salons and group exhibitions. He has been a member of the Croquis Urbanos-Curitiba group since 2013, and from 2010 to 2016 was the organizer of the Curitiba Observational Walking Workshops, a free project for the community in collaboration with visual artist Rafael Codognoto. He has also served as curator of solo and group exhibitions. In 2018 he presented his first solo exhibition of photographs entitled Images of the Day and housed at the university where he taught for 35 years. In 2019, the Boa Vista Gallery in Curitiba exhibited its 16 ceramic statuettes from Costela de Adão series, honoring the religious art of different cultures.

Mario Sergio Teixeira de Freitas é doutor em Física pela UFPR e docente de graduação e pós-graduação aposentado pela UTFPR-Curitiba (2018), onde orientou dissertações e promoveu palestras, cursos, oficinas e eventos de extensão com ênfase na conexão entre a linguagem científica e a artística. Tem formação complementar e produção curricular na área de Artes. Seus trabalhos de fotografia e desenho foram reproduzidos em diferentes periódicos e livros de arte. Desde 2007 colabora com fotografias comentadas para a página EPOD (USRA/NASA) que divulga Ciências da Terra, e teve trabalhos bidimensionais e tridimensionais aceitos para salões de arte e exposições coletivas brasileiras e estrangeiras. Participa desde 2013 do grupo Croquis Urbanos-Curitiba, e de 2010 a 2016 foi organizador das Oficinas Caminhadas Observacionais de Curitiba, um projeto gratuito para a comunidade em colaboração com o artista visual Rafael Codognoto. Também já atuou como curador de exposições individuais e coletivas. Em 2018 apresentou sua primeira exposição individual de fotografias intitulada Imagens do Dia e abrigada na universidade onde lecionou por 35 anos. Em 2019 a Galeria Boa Vista em Curitiba expôs suas 16 estatuetas em cerâmica da série Costela de Adão, homenageando a arte religiosa de diferentes culturas.
