Augusto César Soares dos Santos Junior
Holds a medical degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2003) with specialization in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Participated in several training courses in nephrology and clinical research in Brazil and abroad. In 2009, was granted a scholarship to deepen his understanding of dialysis techniques and renal transplantation at the Fondazione Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, Italy. In 2010, received the Clinical Research Scholar Award from Harvard Medical School in recognition of his performance with the scientific methodology, statistics, and design of clinical studies. From 2011 to 2015, served as Senior Teaching Assistant, Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (PPCR), Department of Continuing Medical Education, Harvard Medical School. From 2016 to 2019, was a Senior Teaching Assistant, PPCR, Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Center for Executive and Continuing Professional Education. In 2014, was a guest researcher at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research and the National Institute of Health (NIH, National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, NIDDK, Bethesda, USA). In 2016, was granted his Ph.D. degree in Health Sciences. In 2018, was an invited lecturer at the Leiden Oxford Transplantation Summer School. In 2019, was awarded the Building Capacity Bursaries by the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, University of Oxford. In 2021, I received from the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) the ISN Mentorship Program Certificate of Recognition for being a mentor dedicated to helping kidney health professionals from all over the world to grow their nephrology skills and contribute to a future where all people have equitable access to sustainable kidney health. In 2021, I was granted by the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Oxford, a scholarship to participate at the program Empathy in Healthcare. In 2022, received the Ambassador Shield for the outstanding contribution to the 7th Education Ambassador Program in Africa. Was the 2021/23 Deputy Chair of the ISN Education SoMe. Is the current ISN Education SoMe Chair. Member of the ISN Education Working Group and the ISN Latin-America Regional Board. MBA candidate at the Imperial College London (2022-24).
Possui graduação em Medicina pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2003). Especializou-se em clinica médica e nefrologia. Participou de diversos cursos de treinamento em nefrologia e pesquisa clínica no Brasil e no exterior. Em 2011, concluiu o curso de pós graduação, nível mestrado, Ciências da Saúde, UFMG. Entre 2011 a 2015 atuou como Senior Teaching Assistant, Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (PPCR), Departamento de Educação Médica Continuada da Harvard Medical School. Em 2016, passou a atuar como Senior Teaching Assistant, PPCR, Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Center for Executive and Continuing Professional Education. Em 2021 recebeu da International Society of Nephrology (ISN) o Mentorship Program Certificate of Recognition, por ter se dedicado para o treinamento de profissionais em todo o mundo na area de nefrologia, contribuindo para um futuro de acesso sustentável e equânime a saude renal.
