- Concluiu o doutorado em Ecology - UNIV CALIFORNIA DAVIS em 1989. Realizou pesquisas de Pos-Doutorado [FAPESP] em Ethnobotanica, em julho de 1995 com R. E. Publicou 126 artigos em periódicos especializados, 22 trabalhos em anais de eventos, 30 capítulos de livros e 10 livros. Participou de 80 eventos, a maioria no exterior, tendo sido "Keynote Speaker" em evento em 2009, no MARE- Univ Amsterdam, em 2009 e na University of Greenwich, Londres, em 2011. Orientou 50 alunos (mestrado, doutorado, iniciação e outros). Coordenou 25 projetots de pesquisa. Atua na área de Ecologia, com ênfase em Ecologia humana, Pesca e Ecologia de Pescadores.
