Adolfo Bauchspiess

Adolfo Bauchspiess graduated and got a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Brasília (UnB)-Brazil (1986, 1990) and a Dr.-Ing. in Electrical Engineering from the Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg/Germany (1995). He spent a sabbatical year (post-doc) at the Universität Kaiserslautern/Germany, 2005-2006 (Prof. Litz) and six months in 2014 at the University of California, Santa Barbara (Prof. Hespanha). He is currently Associate Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Brasília and member of the LARA - Automation and Robotics Laboratory/UnB. His main expertise is intelligent systems (deep machine/reinforcement learning), energy saving in IoT building automation, and identification of dynamic systems. From 2007 and 2013 coordinated the international cooperation CAPES/DAAD PROBRAL between LARA/UnB and the Automation Institute of the Technical University Kaiserslautern/Germany (Prof. Litz) in the area of Ambient Intelligence. In 2012 and 2013 lectured Soft Computing as part of the european Erasmus Mundus mobility program at Kaiserslautern. From June 2015 to June 2017 he was the graduation coordinator of the mechatronics engineering course (Control and Automation Eng.) at UnB. Member of the advising board of the Brazilian Society of Automatics, 2017-2018. Sabbatical leave at Karlsruhe/Germany, Host Prof. Jürgen Becker - ITIV/KIT, January 2022-January 2023, "Machine Learning Algorithms for Occupancy-based Energy Efficient Smart Buildings".

Adolfo Bauchspiess possui graduação e mestrado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade de Brasília (UnB -1986, 1990) doutorado (Dr.-Ing.) em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg/Alemanha (1995). Usufruiu um ano em licença sabática (Pós-Doc) na Universität Kaiserslautern/Alemanha, 2005-2006, (Prof. Litz) e seis meses em 2014 na University of California, Santa Barbara/USA (Prof. Hespanha). Atualmente é Professor Associado IV do Departamento de Engenharia Elétrica da Universidade de Brasília e membro do LARA/UnB - Laboratório de Automação e Robótica. Suas principais áreas de atuação são sistemas inteligentes (deep machine/reinforcement learning), eficiência energética em automação predial IoT e identificação de sistemas dinâmicos. Entre 2007 e 2013 coordenou programas de Cooperação Internacional CAPES/DAAD PROBRAL entre o LARA/UnB e o Instituto de Automação da Universidade Técnica de Kaiserslautern/Alemanha (Prof. Litz) na área de Ambientes Inteligentes. Em 2012 e 2013 lecionou Soft Computing no programa de mobilidade acadêmica Erasmus Mundus da Comunidade Europeia em Kaiserslautern. De junho de 2015 a junho de 2017 foi coordenador de graduação do curso de Engenharia Mecatrônica (Controle e Automação) da UnB. Membro do Conselho Superior da Sociedade Brasileira de Automática, SBA, biênio 2017-2018. Atualmente em Pós-Doutorado em Karlsruhe/Alemanha, Prof. Jürgen Becker - ITIV/KIT, janeiro 2022-janeiro 2023 , "Machine Learning Algorithms for Occupancy-based Energy Efficient Smart Buildings".
