Donesca Cristina Puntel Xhafaj

Donesca holds a BA (2014), a Master's degree (2006), and a PhD (2011) in Letras/Inglês e Literatura Correspondente in the field of second language acquisition from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). In this same institution, she took part in extension projects (APLISC, Cursos Extracurriculares de Línguas, Curso de Formação Continuada de Professores de Inglês como Língua Estrangeira, Inglês sem Fronteiras) and was a tutor in a number of courses in the distance learning Letras program before becoming a member of UFSC's faculty (in 2014). Along the academic life, Donesca has contributed with articles in second language acquisition and, more recently, as an ad hoc reviewer, to a series of national and international journals. Results of her research have been presented in numerous local, national, and international events. Currently, Donesca is a teacher at DLLE (Departamento de Língua e Literatura Estrangeiras) and is part of the faculty at PPGI (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Inglês) at UFSC. She is also the coordinator of the English courses in the outreach project Cursos Extracurriculares, at UFSC and contributes to a project which has the aim of teaching Portuguese as a host language to immigrants in Florianópolis/SC. At the moment, her main research interests are metalinguistic awareness (as a trigger for L2 development), the role of feedback in L2 writing, and the task-based approach.
