Maria Clara Paixão de Sousa has been a professor at the University of São Paulo, at the Department of Classics and Vernaculars of the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences, since 2008. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the State University of Campinas (2004), with pos-docs at the same university (2004-2006), at the University of São Paulo (2007), and at the University of York (2015). She is coordinator of the project 'Women in Portuguese America: Mapping of writings by women and about women in the Portuguese Atlantic space using methods of Digital Humanities' (http://map.prp.usp.br), leader of the 'Digital Humanities' research group (http://humanidadesdigitais.org), coordinator of 'LaViHD ? Virtual Laboratory of Digital Humanities' (http://lavihd.fflch.usp.br), coordinator of 'Corpus Carolina' (http://sites.usp.br/corpuscarolina) and editor of the journal 'Filologia e Linguística Portuguesa' (https://www.revistas.usp.br/flp). She has been teaching Portuguese Syntax and Portuguese Philology in the undergraduate course in Letters and has published and supervised works in the areas of Syntax, Historical Linguistics, Philology and Computational Linguistics. She was part of the founding teams of Corpus Tycho Brahe, the first syntactically annotated Portuguese corpus (1998-2007) and the Biblioteca Digital Brasiliana USP (2007-2012); she coordinated the 1st International Seminar on Digital Humanities in Brazil (2013), was one of the founders of AHDig ? Associação das Humanidades Digitais (2013), and member of the Executive Committee of GO::DH ? Global Outlook Digital Humanities (2014-2015). She is the mother of Pedro, born in 1996, and Tomás, born in 1999.
