Luizella Giardino Barbosa Branco

Formada em Ciências Jurídicas em 1992, Luizella tem dedicado sua carreira ao estudo e prática do Direito Internacional, Arbitragem e ao Direito da Energia. Em março de 2012 concluiu o doutorado em Direito Internacional e da Integração da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro ? UERJ, obtendo a média máxima (dez). Em 1997, concluiu com louvor e distinção o Mestrado em Direito Constitucional pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do RJ, obtendo igualmente a média máxima. Em 2005, participou do Programa de Política Comercial da Embaixada Brasileira em Washington, DC, onde obteve particular experiência em contenciosos e negociações entre Brasil e Estados Unidos. Em 2003, criou a Comissão de Direito do Comércio Internacional junto a Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil, Seção do Estado do RJ, onde atuou como vice-presidente até 2006. Possui cursos de pós-graduação em Direito Comunitário Europeu pela Universidade de Coimbra ? Portugal e em Direito Internacional pela Academia Internacional da Haia ? Holanda. Atualmente é pesquisadora e professora do Mestrado em Energia da Universidade UNIFACS (Universidade de Salvador), e da Faculdade de Direito desta Instituição, bem como da Faculdade Ruy Barbosa. É líder do Grupo de Pesquisa Temas e Dilemas do Direito Internacional Contemporâneo. Reside em Salvador, Bahia.

Graduated in Law since 1992, Luizella has been dedicating her career to the practice and study in International Trade and Regional Integration Law. Her profile includes postgraduation courses at University of Coimbra ? Portugal and at the Hague Academy of International Law ? Holland. On March 2012, Luizella has finished her PHd in International Law at Rio de Janeiro Universitu State, obtainig degree ten on her thesis (BIOFUELS, GLOBAL GOVERNANCE AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE: TOWARDS A NEW ENERGY PARADIGM?) On 1997, Luizella obtained with distinction the Mastership degree in Constitutional Law at the Pontifícia Catholic University of the Rio de Janeiro. On 2005, joined the Trade Policy Training Program at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington D.C., when got particular experience in trade negotiations and dispute settlement in cases involving Brazil and United States, which includes the following activities: Øcarried out researches related to the area of international commerce; Øparticipated of public hearings at the International Trade Comission;Ømonitorated the course of bilateral commercial quarrels and the achievement of the correspondent resolutions of the American organs of interest of the Brazilian government, as the SGP, sanitary measures and fitossanitárias among others; Øelaborated frequent written communications for the Brazilian State Department of Foreing Relations (Itamaraty); Øprepared a preliminar defense involving intelectual property rights, specifically in patent field, claiming the register of name ?cachaça? to brazilian products;She integrates the Nucleus of Studies about World Trade Organization (WTO) Disputes in Rio de Janeiro ? NESC/RJ. On 2003, Luizella was responsible for the criation of the International Trade Commission on Rio de Janeiro Section, being its vice-president until 2006. Her professional background at Law Firms and Consultancy in the International area, includes the following activities;Øassistance to Brazilian and foreign exporters in analyzing and negotiating international contracts, including purchase and sale, transport and financing, as well as all aspects of import and export operations;Øassistance to exporters regarding abusive trade practices and external barriers; Ølegal advice to companies in identifying and implementing trade and investment policies;Øassistance in administrative processes before Brazilian customs authorities and to Brazilian exporters involving problems faced abroad;Øassistance to companies, associations or governments before the competent authorities in relation to filing and pursuing commercial defense actions, as well as in relation to the application of compensatory measures.Currently she is coordinting the Energy Program Posgraduation at the University UNIFACS (University of Salvador) and render legal services and counsulting. Nowadays lives in Salvador, Bahia.
