Gaurav Kumar Pal

This is Gaurav Kumar Pal from Mysore, India, a Post-graduate in Applied Microbiology. Currently, I am working as a Ph. D. Scholar (Senior Research Fellow0 under the supervision of Dr. Suresh PV, Principal Scientist and Associate Professor, Meat and Marine Sciences Department, CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, India with a Research Fellowship awarded by Govt. of India, New Delhi. I enrolled (on 6th January 2014) in Academy of Scientific Innovation and Research (AcSIR) for my Ph. D. degree on the topic of ?Fish collagen and Microbial collagenases: Production and their potential food applications?.I have three objectives in my Ph.D. Programme. I have completed the first objective on the isolation and characterization of the fish collagen from various fish byproducts sources. In my second objective, I carried out the initial experiments for isolation and screening of potent collagenolytic microorganisms from various natural sources including marine. Presently, I am working on the production of the microbial collagenase from microbial sources. Further, I would like to work on the application of the collagen and its hydrolysate as functional food ingredients. As well as, I would also like to work on the development of the collagen hydrolysate/peptides and their bioactivities and functional activities evaluation. In future, i would like to work on the production of functional collagen peptides using the microbial collagenase.
