Clara Ismeria Damiani Bica

Clara I. D. Bica got the degree of chemical engineer in 1982 at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and her M.Sc. degree in the area of Material Science at the same university (1986). She finished her Ph.D. in 1991 at the Institute of Macromoleculasr Chemistry of the Albert-Ludwig University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany. In 1999 she made a post-doc at the Cermav/CNRS and Laboratoire de Spectromètrie Physique /CNRS in Grenoble, France. She is currently associate professor of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Institute of Chemistry/UFRGS in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Her research interests are in the area of Physical Chemistry of Materials obtainable from renewable sources (polymer systems, gels, blends, nanocomposites, microemulsions of water in vegetable oils, interaction of cellulose and its derivatives with surfactants). She oft uses light scattering (static and dynamic) for the characterization of such materials in solution.
