Marlon has a Bachelor's degree in Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology from Positivo University. He completed his Master's degree in Bioscience and Biotechnology at Fiocruz in just one year and then pursued a Ph.D. in Advances in Proteomics, also at Fiocruz, under the guidance of Dr. Paulo Costa Carvalho. Marlon achieved first place in both selections for the MSc and Ph.D. programs. During his Ph.D., Marlon earned several awards from Fiocruz, international scientific meetings, and other institutions. He also helped coordinate scientific events and courses, including at Institut Pasteur Montevideo on Proteomic Analysis. Marlon was awarded the Internship Calmette & Yersin grant more than once during his Ph.D., enabling him to spend time abroad at IP-Montevideo and IP-Paris under the mentorship of Dr. Rosario Duran and Dr. Julia Chamot-Rooke, respectively. With over 25 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, including Bioinformatics and Journal of Proteomics, he highlights a first-author in Nature Protocols. Marlon is a hybrid person who has acquired expertise in "wet-lab" mass spectrometry and software development. He co-advises two undergraduate students (i.e., scientific initiation) with Dr. Carvalho.
