Profa. Dra. Marly Augusto Cardoso

Marly A. Cardoso graduou-se em Nutrição (1985) pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Nessa mesma universidade, obteve os títulos de mestre (1992) e doutor (1995) em Ciências dos Alimentos e Livre Docente em Nutrição em Saúde Pública (2006). É Professora Titular do Departamento de Nutrição da Faculdade de Saúde Pública da USP (2016). Foi chefe do Departamento de Nutrição da Faculdade de Saúde Pública da USP (2012- 2014), Coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Nutrição em Saúde Pública (2006-2010) e pesquisadora do Núcleo de Pesquisas Epidemiológicas em Nutrição e Saúde (NUPENS) da USP. Foi Presidente da Comissão de Pesquisa (2018-2021) e representante da Congregação da Faculdade de Saúde Pública no Conselho Universitário da USP (2018-2021). Atuou como pesquisadora visitante do Departamento de Nutrição da Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (auxílio Estágio Sênior no Exterior do CNPq), Lemann Research Fellow do David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies da Universidade de Harvard, Boston, e da Cátedra Fulbright de Estudos Alimentares da Universidade da California Davis, EUA. Coordenou vários projetos de pesquisa (apoio Fapesp e CNPq), de pós-doutoramento (PRODOC/CAPES e CNPq) e Escola de Altos Estudos em Epidemiologia Nutricional (USP/Harvard, apoio CAPES/Fogarty/NIH). É Editora Associada das revistas PLoS One, Revista de Saúde Pública e Indian Journal of Preventive Medicine, colaborando também como relatora em várias revistas nacionais e internacionais, tais como Diabetes Care, Obesity Research, PLOS ONE, British Journal of Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, American Journal of Public Health, entre outros periódicos nas áreas de nutrição, epidemiologia e saúde coletiva. Foi membro do Comitê Científico do International Diabetes Epidemiology Group (IDEG) e membro do corpo de assessores científicos da Fapesp, CNPq e CAPES. Concluiu 12 orientações de pós-doutorado, 11 de doutorado, 15 de mestrado, 28 de iniciação científica e mais de 50 orientações de treinamento técnico em pesquisa. Tem experiência na área de Nutrição, com ênfase em Epidemiologia Nutricional e Saúde Pública, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: avaliação do estado nutricional, consumo alimentar e distúrbios nutricionais. Foi Coordenadora do Estudo Nacional de Fortificação caseira da Alimentação Complementar (ENFAC) - ensaio pragmático multicêntrico com apoio do Ministério da Saúde do Brasil, CNPq e UNICEF (2012-2014) e atualmente coordena o estudo MINA-Brasil - Saúde e Nutrição Materno-INfantil no Acre: coorte de nascimentos em Cruzeiro do Sul (Programa Ciência sem Fronteiras CNPq 2015-2017; Auxílio Temático Fapesp 2017-2022). Marly A. Cardoso holds a PhD in Food Science and Experimental Nutrition from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Qualified University Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she is a Full Professor of Nutritional Epidemiology and leader of the MINA-Brazil research group (http://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/7646657316313918). She served as the Director of the country?s first graduate program in Public Health Nutrition. She was Lemann Visiting Scholar of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University, Fulbright Food Studies Chair of the University of California Davis, USA, and a research member of the Center for Epidemiological Studies in Health and Nutrition of the University of Sao Paulo (NUPENS, http://nupensusp.wix.com/nupens ). Expertise: Experience in dietary assessment methods, dietary data analysis, design, development and analysis of nutritional surveys. Dr. Cardoso was the Principal Investigation for research projects funded by FAPESP and CNPq on diet and Nutrition related Chronic Diseases (diabetes, metabolic syndrome and cancer): ?Dietary intake and blood levels of micronutrients: association with cervical cancer and preneoplastic lesions? (n~1500);?Clinical trial on nutritional interventions among adults at high-risk for diabetes type 2?(n~100), ?Dietary habits and risk factors for adenomas: case-control, hospital-based study?(N~600), and ?Development of a dietary assessment method for people of Japanese ancestry living in Brazil?. She is also member of the Japanese-Brazilians Diabetes Study Group that conducted the Fapesp funded project ?Diabetes type 2 and associated diseases among the Japanese-Brazilians living in Bauru?(N~1400). Considering the nutritional transition in Brazil, she has been working also on nutritional surveys in the Amazon region. In child health, she has been describing health and nutritional conditions in Amazonian counties with socioeconomic indicators that are substantially lower than the national average. The fieldwork has been done with the participation of community health agents, nursing students from Federal University of Acre, and university level health professionals with training and local supervision by her research team. Her research team has been working in the assessment of environmental conditions and child health status (including assessment of anthropometric indices, biochemical indicators and morbidities - diarrhea, respiratory diseases and other infections), and providing basic health information and training for health workers, mothers and children, including cooking workshops to increase the consumption of local fruits and vegetables.
