Elvis Pontes
Elvis Pontes is 34 years old and currently is PhD student at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Brazil. He holds a MSc in Computer Engineering from the Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas (IPT-2009), an MBA in Information Security from the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (IPEN 2005), a BSc in Computer Science from the Fundação Instituto Tecnológico de Osasco (2001) and a Technological Degree in Data Processing from the Instituto Tecnológico de Barueri (ITB 1996).For the PhD program at USP, he has been modeling the forecasting of cyber attacks by the use of prediction techniques, such as EWMA, Fibonacci Sequence and multi-correlation. Positive results were presented in the following most relevant papers: (1) Applying multi-correlation for improving forecasting in cyber security; (2) Fibonacci sequence and EWMA for intrusion forecasting system; (3) IFS Intrusion forecasting system based on collaborative architecture.Thanks the research above mentioned, the following remarkable academic awards were applied: (1) among best papers and scholarship at ICDIM 11 Congress (from the University of Melbourne, Australia); (2) among best papers and scholarship award from the ICDIM 09 (University of Michigan, USA); (3) second best paper at the I2TS 08 Symposium (#2 of 133, Parque Tecnológico Itaipu, Brazil); (4) merit scholarship from the ICDIM 10 (Lakehead University, Canada). Some other academic awards he was granted with are as follows: top student from ITB (#1 of 36 fellows); top student in the academic department for the MSc, from IPT (#1 of 26 fellows).Thanks the referred research, he was invited by Elsevier to be reviewer of the International Journal of Information Management. Furthermore, he was the chief editor of a number of books for InTech, such as Methodologies, Tools and New Developments for E-Learning , and E-Learning - Long-Distance and Lifelong Perspectives .In his professional life, Elvis Pontes is the owner of a consulting company in the Information Technology (IT) field for 17 years, and his main costumers are national and multinational medium size companies. He is adjunt professor at the Universidade Paulista (UNIP), and visiting professor university SENAC. During 2014 he worked as Visiting Researcher Fellow at the Université d'Avignon (Science without Borders Scholarship). During 2013, he investigated the "prediction of malicious activities in MANETs", at the Uni Aveiro, Portugal - PhD internship supported by the Santander Fellowship, International Mobility program. Furthermore, Elvis Pontes was the editor in chief of a number of books for InTech, such as "Methodologies, Tools and New Developments for E-Learning", and "E-Learning- Long-Distance and Lifelong Perspectives".He was Visiting Professor at Université d'Avignon et Pays Vaucluse in 2014, and nowadays is visiting professor university SENAC.
