Eleonor Gastal Lago

Eleonor Gastal Lago graduated in Medicine (1972) and did a medical residency in Pediatrics (1973/1974) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Specialization in Pediatrics (1974) by the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics. Master's (2000) and PhD (2006) in Pediatrics and Child Health from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). She was a professor at the PUCRS School of Medicine between 1978 and 2019, retiring as a Full Professor. She participated in the Brazil-Europe Multicentre Study on Congenital Toxoplasmosis and in the Systematic Review on Congenital Toxoplasmosis Study Group between 2000 and 2008. She was editor-in-chief of the journal Scientia Medica from 2007 to 2019 and coordinator of the Journals Division at PUCRS between 2011 and 2019. In 2021 she was a research fellow at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in the project "Toxoplasmosis in the Palm of the Hand". She is currently a member and first secretary of the Brazilian Toxoplasmosis Research Network (Rede Toxo). She works as a consultant on congenital toxoplasmosis for the Secretary of Health of the State of Rio Grande do Sul and the Brazilian Ministry of Health (MS). She is one of the coordinators of the "Toxoplasmosis in the Palm of the Hand" portal, which provides educational content on toxoplasmosis for mobile devices, a partnership between PAHO, MS, Rede Toxo and Federal University of Minas Gerais (https://technology .medicina.ufmg.br/devtoxo/). She has published 43 full papers in journals, and the 15 indexed in Web of Science have 713 citations, not counting self-citations. In Google Scholar there are 1735 citations. Mestrado (2000) e doutorado (2006) em Pediatria e Saúde da Criança pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Foi professora da Escola de Medicina da PUCRS entre 1978 e 2019, aposentando-se como Professora Titular. Participou do "Brazil-Europe Multicentre Study on Congenital Toxoplasmosis (EMSCOT)" e do "Systematic Review on Congenital Toxoplasmosis Study Group" (SYROCOT - https://doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(07)60072-5) entre 2000 e 2008. Foi editora chefe do periódico Scientia Medica de 2007 a 2019 e coordenadora da Divisão de Periódicos da PUCRS entre 2011 e 2019.
