Paola Dueñas

Professor Paola Valero, Department of Education, Learning and Philosophy at Aalborg University. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education in 2003 from the Danish University of Education, Denmark. She earned her degree in Political Science in 1995 and in Modern Languages in 1994 from the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia.She is the leader of the Science and Mathematics Education Research Group (SMERG) at the Department of Education, Learning and Philosophy. She has been member of the Department s Advisory Board and Board of Studies. Since 2005, she was, together with Ole Skovsmose, the co-director of the Doctoral Program Technology and Science which is part of the International Doctoral School of Technology and Science at the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Medicine. In June 2007 she was appointed director of the Doctoral Program Technology and Science , by the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Medicine.Her research interests are mathematics, science and engineering education at all levels; in particular innovation and change processes in those fields, curricular development, multiculturalism in science and mathematics education, and science and mathematics teacher education. She is one of the leading scholars on socio-political research in mathematics education and is well known internationally for her research in that area.She was the editor-in-chief of the journal Nordic Studies in Mathematics Education, together with Morten Blomh j from Roskilde University. She serves in the editorial board of scientific journals in Colombia, Denmark, Mexico, Spain and South Africa. She is also reviewer in several international journals and research books series by publishers such as Springer.She has presented 103 papers in conferences and seminars. She has co-authored 6 scientific books and edited 8 peer-reviewed scientific books. She has also published 41 papers in journals and periodicals; 34 peer-reviewed papers in scientific books; and 64 papers in peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
