Alexandre Guimarães Derivi

I have a bachelor's degree and a degree in Physics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (1996/2, 2009/2), a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the UFRGS School of Engineering (1999/1) and a doctorate in Sciences, concentration area: Theoretical Physics, by the Physics Institute of UFRGS (2008/1). Professor of higher education from 1999 to 2002 at URI - Erechim, and researcher/scholarship (CNPq) in nuclear medicine in the period 2007/2. He served as substitute professor at the Institute of Physics at UFRGS, from August 2007 to August 2009. Currently, he is developing studies in the areas of theoretical physics; condensed matter physics, with an emphasis on complex systems; and, mainly, charged systems, simple liquids, liquid simulation and prediction of microstructure growth in solidification processes. As a professor at UERGS, he coordinated the Bioprocess and Biotechnology Engineering course from 2010/2 to 2014/2. He held the functions of Institutional Researcher and President of the Distance Education Nucleus - Nead. He was Coordinator of the Open University of Brazil - UAB/CAPES.

Possui bacharelado e licenciatura em Física pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (1996/2, 2009/2), mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Escola de Engenharia da UFRGS (1999/1) e doutorado em Ciências, área de concentração: Física Teórica, pelo Instituto de Física da UFRGS (2008/1). Foi professor de ensino superior durante o período de 1999 a 2002, e pesquisador/bolsista (CNPq) em medicina nuclear no período de 2007/2. Exerceu a função de professor substituto no Instituto de Física da UFRGS, de agosto de 2007 à agosto de 2009. Atualmente, desenvolve estudos nas áreas de Física teórica; física da matéria condensada, com ênfase em sistemas complexos; e, principalmente, sistemas carregados, líquidos simples, simulação de líquidos e predição do crescimento de microestruturas em processos de solidificação. Como professor da UERGS coordenou o curso de Engenharia de Bioprocessos e Biotecnologia de 2010/2 a 2014/2. Exerceu a funções de Pesquisador Institucional e Presidente do Núcleo de Educação a Distância - Nead. Foi Coordenador da Universidade Aberta do Brasil - UAB/CAPES.
