Maurício Vieira Kritz

BSc. degree in Mathematics from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1972 ), with mayors in Mathematical Physics and Informatics, MSc degree in Mathematics from Association National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (1975 ), with emphasis on Statistics, and a PhD. degree in Mathematics from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1980 ), with emphasis on Mathematics and Computational Modeling . He is research associate at the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing since Oct 1980, editor of the Journal of Universal Computer Science (0948-6968) , member of the Committee for Research Ethics of Arthur Sá Earp Faculties, Wetlands Group representative in the GEOMA Network Scientific Committee and Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Evolution & Genomic Sciences, School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health of the University of Manchester. University of Manchester. Has experience in Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical and Computational Modelling, Epistemology of Science, with emphasis on Mathematical Foundations of Biology, researching on the following topics : biological organization and information, computational modeling, computational biology, systems biology, metabolic models, infection, computational ecology, modeling and sensing environmental systems, discrete and continuous mathematical models, and models for processes. Using this experience as study cases, advanced an evolution of General Systems Theory, that allow for considering phenomena as a collection of interacting organisations.

possui graduação em Matemática pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1972), com ênfase em Física Matemática e Informática, mestrado em Matemática pela Associação Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (1975), com ênfase em Estatística, e doutorado em Matemática pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1980), com ênfase em Matemática e Modelagem Computacional. É pesquisador associado do Laboratório Nacional de Computação Científica desde outubro de 1980, editor do Journal of Universal Computer Science (Online) (0948-6968), membro titular do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Faculdade Arthur Sá Earp, representante do grupo de Áreas Alagáveis no Comitê Científico da Rede GEOMA e Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Evolution & Genomic Sciences, da School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health da Universidade de Manchester. Tem experiência nas áreas de Matemática, Matemática Computacional, Modelagem Matemática e Computacional, Epistemologia das Ciências, com ênfase em Fundamentos de Matemática Biológica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: organização e informação biológicas, modelagem computacional, biologia computacional, biologia de sistemas, modelos metabólicos, infecção, ecologia computacional, modelagem e sensoriamento de sistemas ambientais, modelos matemáticos discretos e contínuos, e modelos para processos. Usando esta experiência, desenvolveu uma proposta de evolução da Teoria Geral de Sistemas, que permite que fenômenos sejam considerados como uma coleção de organizações interagindo.
