Dr. Walman Benício de Castro

Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Paraíba (1988), Master in Mechanical Engineering [C. Grande] from the Federal University of Paraíba (1992) and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (1997). He is currently Full Professor and Coordinator of the Welding Laboratory (LABSOL) of the Academic Unit of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Campina Grande (UAEM-UFCG). He is a permanent member of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering (PPGEM-UFCG), guiding work in the field of Mechanical-Metalurgical Processes (PMM). He has experience in the area of #8203;#8203;Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, with emphasis on Casting and Solidification, working mainly on the following topics: supercooling, microstructure, rapid solidification, shape memory alloys and electromagnetic microsystems. Currently, he maintains interest and has collaborated with innovation and development research in the area of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Mecanica pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1988), mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica [C. Grande] pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1992) e doutorado em Ciência e Engenharia dos Materiais pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1997). Atualmente é Professor Titular e Coodenador do Laboratório de Soldagem (LABSOL) da Unidade Acadêmica de Engenharia Mecânica da Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UAEM-UFCG). É membro permanente do Programa de Pós-graduação em Engenharia Mecânica (PPGEM-UFCG), orientando trabalhos na linha de Processos Mecânico-Metalúrgicos (PMM). Tem experiência na área de Engenharia de Materiais e Metalúrgica, com ênfase em Fundição e Solidificação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: super-resfriamento, microestrutura, solidificação rápida, ligas com memória de forma e microssistemas eletromagnéticos. Atualmente, mantém interesse e tem colaborado com pesquisas de inovação e de desenvolvimento na área de manufatura aditiva de metais por soldagem.
