Graduado em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1985) e Doutor em Parasitologia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1993). Professor Titular de Parasitologia Aposentado e Professor Voluntário da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Professor e Orientador nos Programas de Pós-graduação em Biotecnologia e Biociências (PPGBTC), Medicina Veterinária Convencional e Integrativa (PPGMVCI) e Propriedade Intelectual e Transferência de Tecnologia para Inovação (PROFNIT). Conselheiro da SBPC (2017-2021), Membro fundador da Research Network of Natural Products for Neglected Diseases (ResNet NPND), Membro do Conselho Curador da FAPEU, Membro Fundador e Presidente da Associação da Rede Sul de Biotecnologia - SulBiotec, Membro do Conselho Superior da FAPESC (2019-2022), Membro da Sociedade Brasileira de Parasitologia (SBP), de Medicina Tropical (SBMT), e de Protozoologia (SBPz); Coordenador Científico do Grupo Desterro Fritz Müller/Charles Darwin 200 anos. Tem experiência na área de Parasitologia, com ênfase em Protozoologia Parasitária Humana, Quimioterapia Experimental e Biotecnologia. Atua na popularização da ciência e na divulgação científica do naturalista Fritz Müller.
Graduated in Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1985) and PhD in Parasitology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1993). Retired Professor of Parasitology and volunteer professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Professor and advisor in the Postgraduate Programs in Biotechnology and Biosciences (PPGBTC), Conventional and Integrative Veterinary Medicine (PPGMVCI) and Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer for Innovation (PROFNIT). SBPC Board Member, Founding Member of the Research Network of Natural Products for Neglected Diseases (ResNet NPND), Member of the FAPEU Board of Trustees, Founding Member and President of the Association of the Southern Biotechnology Network (SulBiotec), Member of the FAPESC Superior Board, Scientific Coordinator of the Desterro Fritz Müller/Charles Darwin 200 years initiative. He has experience in the field of Parasitology, with an emphasis on Human Parasitic Protozoology, Experimental Chemotherapy and Biotechnology. It works in the popularization of science and in the scientific dissemination of the naturalist Fritz Müller.
