Mauro Teixeira is graduated in Medicine (MD) at the Faculdade de Medicina of Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) (1990) and has a PhD in Immunopharmacology at the University of London (1994). Currently he is a Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology, UFMG. He is a grade 1A researcher at CNPq, a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Science, of the National Order of Scientific Merit and of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). He is coordinator of the INCT in Dengue and host-microbial interactions. He is a member of the Editorial board "Inflammation Research", "Frontiers in Immunology", "Frontiers in Pharmacology" and "eLife". and senior editor for "The British Journal of Pharmacology". He was president of the Brazilian Society of Pharmacology (SBFTE 2012-2014) and inflammation (SBIN (2018-2021) and is currently vice-president of the International Association of Inflammation Societies (IAIS, 2023-2025). He works in the field of inflammation with particular emphasis on the role of chemoattractant molecules and resolution of inflammation for leukocyte accumulation and tissue damage during infection and chronic inflammation. He is Coordinator of the Center of Innovation and Technology for Innovative and Advance Therapies (CT Terapias - UFMG).

É professor titular do Departamento de Bioquímica e Imunologia da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, pesquisador 1A do CNPq, Membro da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (ABC), da Academia Mundial de Ciencias (TWAS) e da Ordem Nacional do Merito Científico e Tecnológico.É membro do corpo editorial das revistas "Pharmacological Research", "Inflammation Research", "Frontiers in Immunology", "Frontiers in Pharmacology" e "eLife", e senior editor do "British Journal of Pharmacology". Foi presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Farmacologia (SBFTE 2012-2014) e Inflamação (SBIN (2018-2021). É vice-presidente da Sociedade Internacional de Inflamação (IAIS, 2023-2025). É coordenador do INCT em dengue e interações hospedeiro-microorganismos e Coordena o Centro Tecnológico e Inovação em Terapias Avançadas e Inovadoras da UFMG (CT Terapias-UFMG). Atua na área de inflamação, especialmente tentando compreender a relevância e mecanismos moleculares da resposta inflamatória durante doenças infecciosas e autoimunes.
