Mateus P. Gionbelli holds a degree in Animal Science (2008) from the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC). He completed his Master's degree (2010) and Ph.D. (2013) in Animal Science from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). He conducted part of his Ph.D. activities at the USDA\ARS\U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, NE, USA. Between 2013 and 2014, he pursued a Postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Animal Science at UFV. Since April 2014, he has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Science at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). Since June 2014, he has been a permanent faculty member and, since January 2017, the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Animal Science at UFLA (Concept 6 CAPES). He leads the Research Group in Gestational Nutrition and Fetal Programming (DGP/CNPq). He is an Associate Coordinator in the National Program for Academic Cooperation in the Amazon (PROCAD CAPES Notice 21/2018 - representing PPGZ/UFLA). He is a member of the Committee for the BR-CORTE System (Nutrient Requirements of Zebu and Crossbred Cattle, in its 3rd edition). He is a member of the Animal Production Nutritional Requirements Evaluation Network of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Animal Science (INCT/CA). Winner of the Roullier Innovation Awards 2020 - Animal Nutrition (Centre Mondial de l'Innovation Roullier, Roullier Group, Saint-Malo, France). Between 2017 and 2022, he was an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Animal Science. Since May 2023, he has been the Scientific Director of the Brazilian Society of Animal Science (SBZ) and the Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Animal Science (Qualis CAPES A2). He has experience in the field of Ruminant Nutrition and Production, primarily focusing on the following topics: beef cow nutrition, gestational nutrition and fetal programming, strategic supplementation of grazing beef cattle, nutritional requirements of beef cattle, and data analysis in agriculture.

É líder do Grupo de Pesquisa em Nutrição Gestacional e Programação Fetal (DGP/CNPq). É Coordenador Associado no Programa Nacional de Cooperação Acadêmica na Amazônia (PROCAD CAPES Edital 21/2018 - representando o PPGZ/UFLA). É membro do Comitê do Sistema BR-CORTE (Nutrient Requirements of Zebu and Crossbred Cattle, em sua 4 edição). É membro da Rede de Avaliação de Exigências Nutricionais de Animais de Produção do Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia em Ciência Animal (INCT/CA). Vencedor do Prêmio Roullier Innovation Awards 2020 - Animal Nutrition (Centre Mondial de l'Innovation Roullier, Roullier Group, Saint-Malo, França). Entre 2017 e 2022 foi Editorial Board Member do Journal of Animal Science. Desde maio de 2023 é Diretor Científico da Sociedade Brasileira de Zootecnia (SBZ) e Editor Chefe da Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (Brazilian Journal of Animal Science, Qualis CAPES A2). Tem experiência na área de Nutrição e Produção de Ruminantes, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: nutrição de vacas de corte, nutrição gestacional e programação fetal, suplementação estratégica de bovinos de corte em pastejo, exigências nutricionais de bovinos de corte e análise de dados em agropecuária.
