Leonardo Nogueira de Moraes
Leonardo holds a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in Architecture and Planning (2015) from the University of Melbourne (Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning) and was a visiting researcher at the Lunds Universitet (Lund University Centre of Excellence for Integration of Social and Natural Dimensions of Sustainability - LUCID) in 2011. Leonardo holds a Bachelor degree in Tourism (2002) as well as a Masters by coursework degree in Tourism and Hospitality Marketing Management (2004) both by the School of Arts and Communication (ECA) of the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil.He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Resilience and Urban Planning at the Melbourne School of Design - Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning - The University of Melbourne. He is also a tenured lecturer (currently on leave) and former Director (Head) of the IT and Tourism Department at the Brazilian Federal Institute for Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo (Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de São Paulo - IFSP), where he was responsible for subjects in the areas of tourism development management, natural and built environments, sustainability and urban design that are part of the undergraduate level Tourism Management Technology Course and the Bachelor of Architecture and Urban Planning. Both academically as well as a consultant, he has been part of a wide range of tourism development projects for the public and the private sectors. His research investigates the use of Social-Ecological Complex Adaptive Systems and Resilience theory on tourism development management.
