Graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Lavras (1980), Master in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Viçosa (1988), Ph.D. in Animal Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1996) and Post-Doctorate from Iowa State University (2002), University of Kentucky - USA (2002-2003), University of Évora ? PT (2014); Università degli Studi di Firenze (2014-2015). Acting as a university professor for 41 years, she is currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Viçosa, a Researcher of CNPq and a Member of the Technical Scientific Council of AVIMIG. She was the Brazilian Coordinator, for 10 years and at UFV, of the CAPES / FIPSE-Brasil-USA Agreement with the University of Kentucky, Iowa State University and the University of Illinois and Purdue University; She served as Technical-Scientific Coordinator of the Umbrella Agreements between UFV and Évora University- Portugal, National University of Colombia, CES-Colombia University, Iowa State University, University of Kentucky and Università degli Studi di Firenze-Italy. She was the founder, General Coordinator and is currently a member of the Coordinating Committee of AMBIAGRO (Research Center of Environment and Engineering on the Agricultural Industrial Systems); She served as president of the International Commission of DEA-UFV, President of the undergraduate Comission and member of the Graduate Commission in Agricultural Engineering-UFV. She has supervised or co-supervised about 110 doctoral theses and/or master's dissertations in Agricultural Engineering. She has experience in the Agricultural Engineering Area with an emphasis on Rural Construction Engineering and Ambience, working mainly on the following topics: thermal comfort and ambient conditioning systems; ambience, facilities and sustainability in animal production, air quality, animal welfare, adiabatic evaporative cooling and others.

Foi Coordenadora brasileira, por 10 anos e pela UFV, do Convênio CAPES/FIPSE - Brasil-EUA com as University of Kentucky, Iowa State University e university of Illinois e Purdue University; Foi Coordenadora Técnico-Científico dos Convênios Guarda-Chuva entre a UFV e Universidade de Évora- Portugal, Universidade Nacional da Colômbia, Universidade CES- Colômbia, Iowa State University, University of Kentucky e Università degli Studi di Firenze - Itália. Foi fundadora, Coordenadora Geral e atualmente é membro da Comissão Coordenadora do AMBIAGRO (Núcleo de Pesquisa em Ambiência e Engenharia de Sistemas Agroindustriais); Foi presidente da Comissão Internacional do DEA-UFV e membro da Comissão de Pós Graduação em Engenharia Agrícola-UFV. Já orientou ou co-orientou cerca de 110 teses de doutorado e/ou dissertações de mestrado em Engenharia Agrícola. Tem experiência na Área de Engenharia Agrícola com ênfase em Engenharia de Construções Rurais e Ambiência, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: conforto térmico e sistemas de acondicionamento ambiente; ambiência, instalações e sustentabilidade na produção animal, qualidade do ar, bem-estar animal, resfriamento adiabático evaporativo e outros.
