Fernando Pereira Binder

Dr. Fernando Pereira Binder is a musicologist and teacher. His production includes studies in the areas of historical musicology, sociology of music, archival science and textual criticism and editing. He is a graduate of Instituto de Artes da UNESP (2002). He obtained his Master degree (2006) at the same institute with a pioneering study of Brazilian and Portuguese music bands in the 18th and 19th centuries, an internationally recognized research recently published by the Centro de Musicologia de Penedo. He received his PhD from Escola de Comunicações e Artes da USP (2018) with an extensive study of the history of the piano in Brazil, the development of São Paulo pianism and the career of the pianist Guiomar Novaes. Mr. Binder received scholarship grants from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), 1996 to 1998, and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), 2002 and 2004 to 2006. He prepared several music editions of Brazilian sacred music from the 18th and 19th centuries. In this field he worked in many projects, among them to the Brazilian Music Collection, Restoration and Diffusion of Scores of the Marina?s Music Museum (2003) and the Musical Archival Heritage of Minas Gerais (2009). Mr. Binder also worked for the Museum of the Work of the Salesians in Brazil (MOSB) where he structured the Music Section. Between 2007 and 2010 he coordinated the Music Section Revitalization and Organization project. Between 2015 and 2016 he was the technical coordinator of the Project on Preventive Conservation and Cataloging of the José Geraldo de Souza?s Musical Collection, funded by the Cultural Actions Program (ProAC) of the São Paulo State Department of Culture. Since 2014 he has been a professor of History of Music and History of Brazilian Music at the Escola Municipal de Música da Fundação do Teatro Municipal de São Paulo.

Fernando Pereira Binder é musicólogo e professor. Sua produção inclui estudos nas áreas de musicologia histórica, sociologia da música, arquivologia e edição musical. Graduou-se em Composição e Regência no Instituto de Artes da UNESP (2002). Obteve o título de Mestre (2006) no mesmo instituto com um estudo pioneiro sobre bandas de música brasileiras e portuguesas nos séculos XVIII e XIX, pesquisa internacionalmente reconhecida e recentemente publicada pelo Centro de Musicologia de Penedo. Doutorou-se pela Escola de Comunicações e Artes da USP (2018) com um estudo de fôlego sobre a história do piano no Brasil, o desenvolvimento do pianismo paulistano e carreira da pianista Guiomar Novaes. Foi bolsista de do CNPq, de 1996 a 1998, e da FAPESP, 2002 e 2004-2006. Ele preparou diversas edições de música sacra brasileira dos séculos XVIII e XIX. Neste campo ele trabalhou em vários projetos, entre eles o Acervo da Música Brasileira, Restauração e Difusão de Partituras do Museu da Música de Mariana (2003) e no Patrimônio Arquivístico-Musical Mineiro (2009). Ele também trabalhou para o Museu da Obra dos Salesianos no Brasil (MOSB) onde estruturou a Seção da Música. Entre 2007 e 2010 coordenou o projeto de Revitalização e Organização da Seção de Música. Entre 2015 e 2016 foi o coordenador técnico do Projeto Conservação Preventiva e Catalogação do Acervo Musical José Geraldo de Souza, financiado pelo Programa de Ações Culturais - (ProAC) da Secretaria de Cultura do Estado de São Paulo. Desde 2014 é professor das disciplinas de História da Música e História da Música Brasileira no Escola Municipal de Música da Fundação do Theatro Municipal de São Paulo.
