Paulo César de Faccio Carvalho has doctorate in Animal Science at UNESP in 1997. He carried out his thesis at INRA, France, on the relationship between sward structure and the grazing process. He was Visiting Scientist at Crop and Grassland Service FAO, Rome, in 2001, and in 2005-2006. Postdoc at the Dept. of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis (2013-2014), and Visiting Professor - Precision livestock and Nutrition Laboratory of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech at the University of Liège (2022). He is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, working in the Department of Forage Plants and Agrometeorology since 1997. He was former Coordinator of the Animal Science Advisory Committee of CNPq, President of the Brazilian Society of Animal Science, member of the Advisory Board of Alianza del Pastizal/BirdLife International. He was also Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Animal Science and member of the UFRGS Graduate Chamber. He is a member of the State Management Committee of the Low Carbon Agriculture Program and the current President of the Brazilian Society of Integrated Crop-Livestock Systems, as well as Director of the SIPA Alliance (Integrated Agricultural Production Systems). He is a member of the International Advisory Committee on the Nutrition of Herbivores, and Vice President of the Asociación Latino-americana de Producción Animal (ALPA). He was Director of Institutional Relations of the Brazilian Society of Animal Science. His bibliographic production is available in 762 different types of publication. He served as Guest Editor for 4 international journals. He is an Editor (recommender) of the Peer Community in Animal Science. He completed the supervision of 103 post-graduate students, including Mac (60) and PhD (43), and 22 post-doctoral. He is a 1A productivity researcher by CNPq and leader of the Grazing Ecology Research Group. He works in Research and Extension in Soil-Plant-Animal Relationships. His works study the grazing process in natural pastoral environments, cultivated or integrated with agriculture. He was four times awarded with the Prêmio Futuro da Terra by FAPERGS, and three times with the "Prof. Otávio Domingues" Award by the Sociedade Brasileira de Zootecnia. "Prof. Geraldo Gonçalves Carneiro" award among the authors of the best scientific article of 2021, by the same society. He has been recognized by the Australian Society of Animal Production and the Harry Stobbs Memorial Fund with the Harry Stobbs Memorial Lecture in Sydney, Australia. He received the Outstanding Researcher in Agricultural Sciences Award by FAPERGS in 2020. He has already been invited to conferences at the main national and international scientific forums in his area, having shared co-authorship in manuscripts with two Nobel Prizes. He is the Technical Coordinator of the PISA Program (Integrated Production of Agricultural Systems) which, together with MAPA/UFPR and SEBRAE/SENAR/FARSUL, and other partners, serves 127 municipalities in southern Brazil, reaching 1940 families of small producers relatives. He coordinates sustainability assessments on rural properties using the SAFA-FAO tool, which has already accredited 1107 rural properties in 83 municipalities with the "Sustainable Alliance SIPA" seal. He has worked in technical training programs in crop-livestock integration and sustainable pasture management. Tem atuado em programas de capacitação técnica em integração lavoura-pecuária, e manejo sustentável de pastagens.
