Former professor and soil scientist at Universidade Federal de Vicosa (UFV) where I had the chance to be involved/coordinate different labs and initiatives, including the coordination of one of the oldest and most successful public-private partnerships within Brazilian universities - NUTREE, which included the most important forest companies in Brazil and different areas of expertise within the university. I also coordinated a 3 year project with North Carolina State University (NCSU) and the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Source (LNLS) to improve the use of synchrotron-based techniques by the Soil and Environmental scientists in Brazil, which was responsible for pushing for the development of the Molecular Environmental Science in Brazil and training and educating many scientists, especially young ones. Was also a founder member of the Group on Fertilizer Studies (GEFERT) and responsible for initiating the work on agronomic biofortification of staple food at UFV.
Currently I am a professor and soil scientist at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) located in Morocco, where I joined the Center of Excellence in Soil and Fertilizer Research in Africa (CESFRA) and am currently involved in several initiatives to improve fertilizers use efficiency, soil health and the overall productivity and sustainability of cropping systems in Africa, pushing for the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 UN Agenda.

Has experience in Agronomy, focusing on Handling and Conservation of the Soil, acting on the following subjects: eucalipto, matéria orgânica, formas orgânicas e inorgânicas de fósforo, substâncias húmicas and microcalorimetria.
