Jorge Yair Pérez Palencia

Dr. Perez Palencia is a Research Associate (Monogastric Nutrition) in the Department of Animal Science at South Dakota State University. He earned his B.S. degree in Animal Science at Universidad de Sucre - Colombia in 2014 and a M.S. and PhD in Swine Nutrition from Universidade Federal de Lavras - Brazil in 2015 and 2018, respectively. Dr. Perez Palencia has spent the last 4+ years conducting research related to applied swine nutrition with a primary focus on the evaluation of ingredients and additives in pig diets and their effects on performance and intestinal health. Also, he has started a poultry nutrition research program, initially focused on the evaluation of ingredients/additives in poultry diets. As part of his current role at SDSU, Dr. Perez Palencia also is involved in building relationships with companies and different organizations in swine industry as well as mentoring students.

Possui Graduação em Zootecnia pela Universidad de Sucre - Colômbia (2014), Mestrado (2015) e Doutorado (2018) em Zootecnia pela Universidade Federal de Lavras - Brasil na área de Produção e Nutrição de Suínos. Desde Janeiro de 2019 até Junho de 2021 realizou pós doutorado na área de Nutrição de Suínos na South Dakota State University, Brookings, South Dakota, United States of America. Atualmente é Research Associate na mesma instituição, realizando pesquisas na área de nutrição de suínos e aves com foco na avaliação do valor nutricional de ingredientes e aditivos para monogástricos e sua interação com a saúde intestinal.
