Vera Silvia Facciolla Paiva
Professor of the Institute of Psychology (IP) and researcher at the Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA) at the University of Sao Paulo, Vera Paiva research and teaching is on a psychosocial approach to inequality, sexuality and the psychossocial dimension of health promotion and care. Since the early 1980s has been dedicated to Human Rights based approaches and, more especially to the AIDS response in Brazil and Globally. Since 2020, involved in the COVID-19 social response. Professora Titular em Psicologia Social do Instituto de Psicologia da USP (2016), onde ensina desde 1987. Pesquisadora no Instituto de Estudos Avançados (IEA_USP) ). Na Pós-graduação, orientadora nos programas de Psicologia Social/IPUSP e Saúde Coletiva /FMUSP. Membro do IAS-Lancet Commission on Health and Human Rights e do Comitê de Coordenação da Rede de Pesquisa Solidária COVID-19. Dedica-se à abordagens psicossociais implicadas na inovação das práticas de saúde (de prevenção e cuidado integral) baseadas em direitos humanos, com ênfase para IST/AIDs e COVID-19. Fundou e Co-coordenou o NEPAIDS-USP (Núcleo de Estudos para a Prevenção da AIDS), grupo interdisciplinar desde 1991 dedicado ao ensino, extensão e pesquisa. Desenvolve extensa colaboração com redes de resposta à COVID-19 e programas governamentais de IST/AIDS (nacional, estaduais e municipais). Professora na Brown University /USA (Cogut Professorship at the Center for Latin American Studies, 2017) e na Columbia University/SocioMedical Department (2004). Mantém intercâmbio de ensino e pesquisa, desde 1996 com a Universidade da Califórnia (Medicine-SFrancisco e Public Health-Berkeley), com University of California/San Diego/USA e University of Southern California desde 2016, e em vários períodos desde 1997 com a Harvard School of Public Health e Institut Pasteur/França (WAF).
Foi membro e coordenação (board) da Association for the Social Sciences and Humanities in HIV. MacArthur Individual Leadership Grantee (1991-94) e Fogarty Fellow na Universidade da Califórnia- Berkeley e San Francisco, onde também fez pós-doutorado (1996-97).
