Rachel de Sousa Vianna

I am a teacher at the Guignard School and the Graduate Program in Arts at the State University of Minas Gerais - UEMG. My academic trajectory includes a post-doctorate in education at UFMG; doctorate in education from USP, with a sandwich scholarship at the University of Roehampton, London; a master's degree in arts education from the University of Texas at Austin; bachelor degree in architecture and urbanism from UFMG and licentiate degree in art education from Escola Guignard. I am the leader of the Research Group Mediation in Art and Culture: Theories and Methods, linked to UEMG. Since 2000, I have developed studies and projects in the areas of cultural mediation, museum and heritage education and Built Environment Education - BEE. I am interested in active teaching-learning methodologies capable of integrating aesthetic and ethical education to achieve a double objective: to expand the scope and quality of the visual aesthetic experience and to promote the development of the ability to think critically about visual arts, the built space and the challenges of the contemporary world.

Sou professora da Escola Guignard e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes da Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais - UEMG. Minha trajetória acadêmica inclui pós-doutorado em educação pela UFMG; doutorado em educação pela USP, com bolsa sanduíche na Universidade de Roehampton, em Londres; mestrado em arte-educação pela Universidade do Texas em Austin; bacharelado em arquitetura e urbanismo pela UFMG e licenciatura em artes plásticas pela Escola Guignard. Sou líder do Grupo de Pesquisa Mediação em Arte e Cultura: Teorias e Métodos, vinculado à UEMG. Desde 2000, desenvolvo estudos e projetos nas áreas de mediação cultural, educação museal e patrimonial e Educação do Ambiente Construído - BEE. Interesso-me por metodologias ativas de ensino-aprendizagem capazes de integrar a educação estética e ética para atingir um duplo objetivo: ampliar o alcance e a qualidade da experiência estética visual e promover o desenvolvimento da capacidade de pensar criticamente as artes visuais, o espaço construído e os desafios do mundo contemporâneo.
