Manuela Silva Libanio Tosto

Degree in Animal Science from the Federal University of Viçosa (1997), a master's degree in Animal Science in the Tropics from the Federal University of Bahia (2007) and a doctorate in Integrated Doctoral Program from the Federal University of Paraíba (2011). She is currently a professor of the Associate I class of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) - Ondina, Salvador. Permanent member of the Postgraduate Program in Animal Science at the same institution since 2014. Deputy chief the Department of Animal Science. She teaches the subject of Production of sheep and Bioclimatology, ambience, behavior and animal welfare for the undergraduate course in animal science at UFBA and the subject Basic nutrition of ruminant, in the Program Graduate Studies in Animal Science from the same institution. Coordinates the teaching, research and extension sector in goat farming at UFBA, Fazenda Experimental de Entre Rios / BA. Member of the Federal and State Commission on Ethics and Animal Welfare of CFMV and CRMV / BA. She is a reviewer of national journals. Which guides students in scientific initiation, monitoring, initiation to extension, master's and doctorate. She has experience in the area of ​​Animal science, with an emphasis on ruminant production, acting mainly on the following themes: animal behavior and well-being, food evaluation, nutrition and small ruminant production. Exercises the university extension coordinating the group of Studies in behavior and animal welfare (GEBECA).

Possui graduação em Zootecnia pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1997), mestrado em Ciência Animal nos Trópicos pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (2007) e doutorado em Programa de Doutorado Integrado pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (2011). Atualmente é docente da classe Associada II da Escola de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia da Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA) - Ondina, Salvador. Membro permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Zootecnia da mesma Instituição desde 2014. Chefe do Departamento de Zootecnia. Leciona a disciplina Ovinocultura e Bioclimatologia, ambiência, comportamento e bem-estar animal para o curso de graduação em Zootecnia da UFBA e a disciplina Tópicos especiais em bem-estar animal, no Programa de Pós-graduação em Zootecnia da mesma instituição. Membro integrante da Comissão Federal e Estadual de Ética e Bem-estar Animal do CFMV e CRMV/BA. É revisora de periódicos nacionais. Orienta estudantes em iniciação científica, monitoria, iniciação à extensão, mestrado e doutorado. Tem experiência na área de Zootecnia, com ênfase em produção de ruminantes, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: comportamento e bem-estar animal, avaliação de alimentos, nutrição e produção de pequenos ruminantes. Exerce a extensão universitária coordenando o grupo de Estudos em comportamento e bem-estar animal (GEBECA).
