Maria Jacinta Bola Ramos

Docente e investigadora no Curso de Música da Universidade Federal do Piauí, Brasil, na área de Estudos Culturais, Performance e Música. Colaboradora do grupo de Investigação em Género e Performance do Centro de Línguas, Literatura e Culturas da Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal. Membro OTIUM ? Associação Ibero-americana de Estudos de Ócio. Atualmente realiza pesquisa na área de Performance e Improvisação Jazz Vocal, área que experiencia profissionalmente há mais de 25 anos. Doutorada em Estudos Culturais pela Universidade do Minho e mestre em Música pela Manhattan School of Music - Nova Iorque, instituição que lhe atribuiu bolsa de estudos completa na área de Canto Jazz Performance. Licenciada em Ensino de Música, na área de composição e música de câmara, pela Universidade de Aveiro. Cantora de jazz com carreira internacional e sete discos no mercado, Jacinta editou na Blue Note Records e foi galardoada com disco de ouro pelo seu disco Tribute to Bessie Smith. Figura como representante portuguesa em mais de 20 coletâneas diferentes de jazz vocal. Gravou o seu segundo álbum, Day Dream, com o saxofonista Greg Osby; e atuou em duo com os pianistas Jason Moran e Gonzalo Rubalcaba.

Collaborator of the Gender and Performances Research group and of the Culture and Leisure Studies Center at the Center for Languages, Literature and Cultures of the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Member OTIUM - Ibero-American Association of Leisure Studies. Jacinta conducts research in the area of performance and jazz vocal improvisation, which she has been working professionally for more than 25 years. Doctorate in Cultural Studies by the University of Minho, Portugal, she holds a Master's degree in Music from the Manhattan School of Music, New York, institution which awarded her a full scholarship in the area of Vocal Jazz Performance. Graduated in music teaching, in the area of composition and chamber music, by the University of Aveiro, Portugal. A jazz singer with an international career and seven albums on the market, Jacinta is a Blue Note recording artist and was awarded a gold record for her album, Tribute to Bessie Smith. She is a Portuguese representative in more than 20 different collections of vocal jazz. She recorded her second album, Day Dream, with saxophonist Greg Osby; and performed in duos with pianists Jason Moran and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
