O presente trabalho tem como objetivo investigar a trajetória histórica do Grupo Escolar Domício da Gama destacando o seu papel no que se refere à expansão da escolarização da infância na cidade de Maricá na década de 1950. Interessa-nos pensar a constituição do Grupo Escolar como espaço de disseminação da instrução popular, alavancando novas relações entre a escola e a cidade viabilizadas a partir das práticas pedagógicas e sociais organizadas pela instituição. Para realização desse trabalho utilizamos à metodologia de pesquisa histórica, onde recorremos às fontes primárias constituídas por livros de registro, livros de frequência, fontes iconográficas e entrevistas na tentativa de refletir acerca das práticas escolares e das representações produzidas no espaço escolar do Grupo Domício da Gama. Para tanto, buscamos aportes teóricos nas contribuições de Benjamim (1994), Elias (1997), Chartier (1990), Certeau (2007), Werle (2004) Ginzburg (1989), Geremeck (1997), Foucault (1987), Faria Filho (2000,2007), Camara (2004,2010), Souza (1998, 2006), Vidal (2003, 2006, 2008), Veiga (2000, 2003, 2005), entre outros.
The present study aims to investigate the historical trajectory of the primary school Domício da Gama highlighting its role as regards the expansion of schooling of children in the town Marica in the 1950. We are interested in thinking about the constitution of the primary school as an area of spread of popular education, leveraging new relationship between the school and the city made possible from the pedagogical and social practices organized by the institution. To perform this study we used the methodology of historical research, where we use the primary sources consist of log books, attendance books, iconographic sources and interviews in an attempt to reflect on school practices and representations made in the school of Gama Goup Domício. To this end, we seek theoretical contributions of: Benjamim (1994), Elias(1997), Chartier (1990), Certeau (2007), Ginzburg (1989), Geremeck (1997), Foucault (1987), Faria Filho (2000,2007), Camara (2004,2010), Souza (1998,2006), Vidal (2003,2006,2008), Veiga (2008), among others.
