Esta dissertação apresenta como tema o uso do patrimônio histórico da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, seus museus e lugares de memória, como estratégia potente para o ensino de história. As reflexões sobre esta estratégia incorporam a definição dos objetivos do ensino de história na Educação Básica, que devem ir além do repasse do conhecimento produzido pela historiografia para construir conhecimentos significativos capazes de servirem de referencia e orientação no presente. Neste sentido, esta pesquisa aborda os desafios de ensinar história na contemporaneidade buscando compreender as características do tempo presente e as relações que se estabelecem no processo de aprendizagem, onde o contato direto do aluno com os vestígios do passado é entendido como capaz de envolvê-los afetivamente, e através deste contato com a história materializada construir a compreensão de sua própria historicidade. Como parte desta dissertação estão sugestões de atividades envolvendo o uso da educação patrimonial para o ensino de história.
This dissertation presents the theme using the historical heritage of the city of Rio de Janeiro, its museums and places of memory, as a powerful strategy for teaching history. The reflections on this strategy incorporate the definition of history teaching objectives in basic education, which should go beyond the repassing of knowledge produced by historiography to build meaningful knowledge able to serve as reference and guidance in the present time. In this sense, this research addresses the challenges of teaching history in the contemporary order to understand the present time characteristics and the relationships that are established in the learning process, where the direct contact of the student with the vestiges of the past is seen as able to engage them affectively, and through this contact with materialized history build understanding of its own historicity. As part of this work are suggestions for activities involving the use of heritage education for teaching history.
