NUQUIMHE is based in the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of Santa Maria (Brasil) and has 03 Rresearchers (1A, CNPq), 02 Researchers (1D, CNPq), 03 Researchers, and ca. 40 students (Postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. students, MS students, and undergraduate students). After 30 years of operation NUQUIMHE produced more than 400 publications, reviews (three in the Chemical Reviews), book chapters, and graduated more than 150 masters and 85 PhDs. The main scientific interests of researchers are centered in heterocyclic chemistry with special emphasis in the development of novel building block precursors, synthetic methods, use of ionic liquids, solvent-free procedures, and the study of molecular and supramolecular structure of organic compounds. Recently research group was introduced in scope: synthesis and structural studies of [2]- [3]rotaxanes; supramolecular chemistry, crystal engineering.
