Victor Augusto Giraldo

Victor Giraldo holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics (1991) and a M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics (1994) from the Mathematics Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IM-UFRJ), and a D.Sc. in Systems and Computer Engineering (2004) from the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE-UFRJ), with a doctoral internship at the Institute of Education of the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He works in research in Education, with especial focus on teachers? education, curriculum and decoloniality. He is a member of the Working Group on Mathematics Education (GT19) of the National Association for Research and Graduate Studies in Education (ANPEd) and of the Working Group on Mathematics Teachers Education (GT7) of the Brazilian Society of Mathematics Education (SBEM). He is currently an Associate Professor at IM-UFRJ, where he is a lecturer since 1992, teaching and supervising in the Undergraduate Program for Pre-service Mathematics Techers Education, in the Graduate Program in Mathematics Education and in the Graduate Program in Education, and working as head of the Laboratory of Mathematical Practices of Teaching (LaPraME). At the Institution, he has also held the positions of head of the Undergraduate Program for Pre-service Mathematics Techers Education (1997 to 2000) and as head of the Graduate Program in Mathematics Education (2006 to 2011, and 2015 to 2020).

Victor Giraldo é Bacharel em Matemática (1991) e Mestre em Matemática Aplicada (1994) pelo Instituto de Matemática da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (IM-UFRJ), e Doutor em Engenharia de Sistemas e Computação (2004) pelo Instituto Alberto Luiz Coimbra de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Engenharia da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (COPPE-UFRJ), com estágio de doutoramento no Institute of Education, University of Warwick, Reino Unido. Atua em pesquisa em Educação, com ênfase em formação de professores, currículo e decolonialidade. É membro do GT de Educação Matemática (GT19) da Associação Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Educação (ANPEd) e do GT de Formação de Professores que Ensinam Matemática (GT7) da Sociedade Brasileira de Educação Matemática (SBEM). Atualmente é Professor Associado do IM-UFRJ, onde leciona desde 1992, sendo docente do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática, do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Matemática (PEMAT) e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação (PPGE, e coordenador do Laboratório de Práticas Matemáticas do Ensino (LaPraME). Na Instituição, já atuou também como Coordenador do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática (1997 a 2000) e como Coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Matemática (2006 a 2011, e 2015 a 2020).
