Carolina de Barros Vidor

Carolina completed her doctoral degree in physics education (2021) at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (Brazil), where she investigated the constitution of identities and the norms of recognition shaping physics education research from a poststructuralist perspective, with emphasis on the feminist political philosophy of Judith Butler. Currently, her research interests are related to the following themes: identity in science education, gender mainstreaming in academia, feminist studies of science and technology, education for social justice. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting doctoral fellow (CAPES/PRINT Program) at Uppsala University (Sweden). Her background includes a specialization degree in engineering, science and mathematics education (2017) at State University of Rio Grande do Sul - UERGS (Brazil) and a master's degree in materials engineering and technology (2014) at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul - PUCRS (Brazil). During her master's studies, she was visiting master student at École Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne - EPFL (Switzerland). She also completed a teaching license degree in physics (2012) and a bachelor's degree in medical physics (2012) at PUCRS (Brazil). During her undergraduate studies, she was exchange student at University of Tübingen (Germany) and worked as student research assistant at Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics. Throughout her academic training, she received several scholarships financed by the Brazilian government and participated in several research projects involving international cooperation between Brazil, other Latin-American countries and European countries. Besides that, she also worked as science teacher in grades 6, 7, 8 and 9 (students from 11 to 14 y-o) and as physics teacher in grades 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 (students from 13 to 17 y-o) in public and private schools in Brazil.

Carolina é doutora em ensino de física (2021) pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, onde investigou a constituição das identidades de pesquisadoras e pesquisadores em ensino de física a partir de estudos pós-estruturalistas, com ênfase na filosofia política feminista de Judith Butler. Atualmente seus interesses de pesquisa estão relacionados aos seguintes temas: identidade na educação em ciências, perspectivas de gênero no ambiente acadêmico-científico, estudos feministas da ciência e tecnologia, educação para a justiça social. Foi bolsista de doutorado sanduíche (Programa CAPES/PRINT) na Universidade de Uppsala (Suécia). Possui formação em especialização em educação em engenharia e ensino de ciências e matemática (2017) pela Universidade Estadual do Rio Grande do Sul - UERGS e mestrado em engenharia e tecnologia de materiais (2014) pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul - PUCRS. Durante o mestrado, foi aluna visitante na Escola Politécnica Federal de Lausanne - EPFL (Suíça). É graduada em licenciatura em física (2012) e em bacharelado em física médica (2012), ambos pela PUCRS. Durante a graduação, foi aluna intercambista na Universidade de Tübingen (Alemanha) e atuou como assistente de pesquisa no Instituto Max Planck para Biologia Cibernética (Alemanha). Ao longo de sua formação acadêmica, recebeu diversas bolsas de pesquisa financiadas pelo governo brasileiro e atuou em projetos de pesquisa envolvendo cooperação internacional entre Brasil, outros países latino-americanos e países europeus. Além disso, atuou como professora de ciências no ensino fundamental e como professora de física no ensino médio em escolas públicas e privadas na cidade de Porto Alegre/RS.
