Theolis Costa Barbosa Bessa

graduated in Biological Sciences by the Federal University of Bahia (1995), has specialization courses in Higher Educationby the Visconde de Cairu Faculty and in Clinical Research by the PROADI-SUS/FECS program, obtained her Master in Immunology by the Federal University of Bahia (1997), and her PhD in Human Pathology by the Federal University of Bahia (2002), and completed a post-doctoral stage at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy. Holds a Green Belt certificate in Lean Six Sigma. Presently is a Research Technologist at the Gonçalo Moniz Institute - Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and leads the Fiocruz' Clinical Research Group in Tuberculosis, which is part of the Brazilian Network of Tuberculosis Research (REDE-TB). Has experience in Immunology, focusing in the following subjects: Immune modulation, BCG, mucosal immunity and human tuberculosis, and in the field of Molecular epidemiology of hman tuberculosis. Her areas of interest are: immunology applied to the study of infectious diseases, molecular epidemiology, human pathology, and vaccines.

possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1995), especialização em Docência do Ensino Superior pela Faculdade Visconde de Cairu (2007) e em Pesquisa Clínica pelo PROADI-SUS/FECS (2017), mestrado em Imunologia pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1997), doutorado em Patologia Humana pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (2002) e pós-doutorado pelo European Institute of Oncology, em Milão, Itália (2009). Tem certificado Green Belt em Lean Six Sigma. Atualmente é Tecnologista em Saúde Pública do Instituto Gonçalo Moniz - Fiocruz e vice-líder do Grupo de Pesquisa Clínica Fiocruz em Tuberculose, que é parte da Rede Brasileira de Pesquisa em Tuberculose (REDE-TB). Tem experiência na área de Imunologia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: imuno-modulação, BCG, imunidade de mucosas e tuberculose humana, e na área de Epidemiologia molecular da tuberculose humana. Suas áreas de interesse são: imunologia aplicada ao estudo das doenças infecciosas, epidemiologia molecular, patologia humana e vacinas.
