Agronomic Engineer at the Federal University of the Semi-arid (1994), Master and PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding at the Federal University of Lavras (2000), Post-doctoral Genetic Resources at the Federal University of Viçosa (2008) doctor in Application of genomics in the improvement of cucurbitaceae by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2013) (Spain). Currently Associate Professor IV of the Federal Rural Semi-Arid University. Has worked mainly in the following subjects: Genetic improvement of cucurbitaceae, genetic resources and experimental statistics.

Atualmente é Professor Titular da Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-árido. Tem atuado atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Melhoramento genético de cucurbitáceas, recursos genéticos e estatística experimental.
