She has a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Viçosa - UFV (1985), Master's (1998) and Doctorate (2002) in Agricultural Microbiology from UFV; and Postdoctoral (2008) from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University - NY, US. She is a Full Professor at UFV, Department of Veterinary Medicine, Preventive Veterinary Medicine and Public Health Sector, 1D Research Productivity Scholarship - CNPq, researcher from Minas Gerais - PPM and advisor professor at the Veterinary Medicine / UFV Graduate Program and also at the Program Graduate Program in Animal Bioscience at the University of Cuiabá / UNIC. She works in the area of Preventive Veterinary Medicine, with an emphasis on Veterinary Microbiology and Bacterial Diseases, working mainly with the following themes: i) Multi-drug efflux systems and other mechanisms of resistance to antimicrobials in a context also of One Health; ii) antimicrobial activities and synergistic associations of molecules extracted from plants and semi-synthetic molecules with antimicrobials for the treatment of diseases; iii) study of mastitic milk by omic techniques and the use of milk transplantation as a treatment; iv) detection of changes in the immunological, proteomic and lipidic profiles of goats during the development of mastitis; v) study of factors and mechanisms of virulence of bacteria of interest in Veterinary Medicine .; vi) detection and quantification of biofilms in vitro and in vivo, and their relationship with resistance to antimicrobials; vii) contribution of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) in the development of mastitis caused by Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus sp. and Streptococcus sp .; viii) interaction of MAP with bovine sperm cells; ix) relationship of MAP with patients affected by Crohn's Disease - DC (risk factors and genetic, immunological and epidemiological characteristics); and x) study of the intestinal microbiome of patients with CD and the relationship with pharmacological therapy and the presence of MAP.
