Físico (bacharel) pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1979) e doutor (PhD) em Engenharia Nuclear pela Purdue University (1985), ex-pesquisador titular do Centro Tecnológico do Exército, atua como professor colaborador da Seção de Energia Nuclear do Instituto Militar de Engenharia. Especializado em Física de Reatores e das Radiações Ionizantes, pesquisa o processo de irradiação e a previsibilidade de eclipses lunares.
