Roberto Vilchez Yamato

Associate Professor at the Institute of International Relations (IRI) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). He was Coordinator of the Academic Graduate Program (PPGA) at IRI/PUC-Rio (2019-2021). He was Coordinator of the Interinstitutional Doctorate (DINTER) at IRI/PUC-Rio and at the Federal University of Latin American Integration - UNILA (2019 to 2021). Currently, he is the Coordinator of the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Chair (CSVM)/UNHCR at PUC-Rio. Leader of the Observatório de Mobilidade e Direitos Humanos (OMDH)/Center on Mobility and Human Rights, a CSVM research group at PUC-Rio certified in the CNPq Directory of Research Groups in Brazil since October 2021. Leader of Fronteiras do Internacional: New Articulations between International Law and International Relations, a research group certified in the CNPq Directory of Research Groups in Brazil since April 2021. Member of the Global Academic Interdisciplinary Network (GAIN), established according to the Global Compact on Refugees adopted in 2018. (Co)Coordinator of the Winter School of International Political Sociology (IPS Winter School). Associate Editor of the journal Contexto Internacional: journal of global connections. Member of the Intersectoral State Committee on Public Policies for the Care of Refugees and Migrants (CEIPARM/RJ). Member of the Municipal Committee for Public Policies for the Care of Refugees, Immigrants and Stateless Persons (COMPARM). Post-doctorate in Theory and Philosophy of Law at the Graduate Program in Law at the State University of Rio de Janeiro - UERJ (2021-2022). He holds a PhD in International Relations from IRI / PUC-Rio (2011), with a Sandwich Doctorate (2009/2010) at the University of Victoria (UVic), Canada. PhD candidate in Law at Birkbeck College, University of London, United Kingdom (since 2012). MPhil in Social Sciences/International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo - PUC-SP (2004). MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE, University of London (2004) - master's degree revalidated by the University of São Paulo - USP (2010). BA in International Relations (1996-1999) and BA in Law (1997-2001) from PUC-SP. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Watson Institute for International Studies, Brown University, USA (2009). Has experience in the areas of International Relations, International Law, Human Rights and Refugee Studies, acting mainly in the following subjects: Theory of International Relations, Deconstruction, Postcolonial and Decolonial Thoughts, Interdisciplinary Studies of International Law and International Relations, Human Rights, Migration and Refugee Studies.

Bacharel em Relações Internacionais (1999) e em Direito (2001) pela PUC-SP. Foi Visiting Scholar no Watson Institute for International Studies, Brown University, EUA (2009). Tem experiência nas áreas de Relações Internacionais, Direito Internacional, Direitos Humanos e Refúgio, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Teoria de Relações Internacionais, Desconstrução, Pensamentos Pós-coloniais e Decoloniais, Estudos Interdisciplinares de Direito Internacional e Relações Internacionais, Direitos Humanos, Migrações e Refúgio.
