Neyval Costa Reis Jr. is Full Professor at the Federal University of Espírito Santo and Level 1 Productivity Grant from National Science Council (CNPq). He works in the field of Transport Phenomena, mainly on the following topics: transport and dispersion of contaminants in the atmosphere, air pollution, turbulence modelling and computational fluid mechanics. Graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Federal University of Espírito Santo (1995), MPhil degree in Environmental Engineering at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (1997) and PhD degree in Environmental Engineering at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (2000). His scientific contribution is characterized by interdisciplinarity, employing engineering tools and transport phenomena to solve environmental problems, including characterization and dispersion of pollutants in urban environments, emission estimates, urban planning and mitigation/impact/resilience to climate change. He was Research Director at Federal University of Espírito Santo between 2008 and 2012 and Pro-Rector of Research and Graduate Studies at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) and member of the State Council of Science and Technology of Espírito Santo between 2012 and 2020. He was the President of the State Commission on Climate Change of ES from 2021 to 2023. Currently, he is the Coordinator of the Institute of Climate Studies at UFES/VALE/FAPES and the coordinator of the Decarbonization and Greenhouse Gas Emission Neutrality Plan of ES.
Neyval Costa Reis Jr. é Professor Titular da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo e Bolsista de Produtividade nível 1 do CNPq. Atua na área de Fenômenos de Transporte, principalmente nos seguintes temas: transporte e dispersão de contaminantes na atmosfera, poluição do ar, modelagem de turbulência e mecânica dos fluidos computacional. Graduado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (1995), conclui o Mestrado em Engenharia Ambiental na University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (1997) e Doutorado em Engenharia Ambiental - University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (2000). Sua contribuição é caracterizada pela interdisicplinaridade, empregando ferramentas de engenharia e fenômenos de transporte para a solução de problemas ambientais, incluindo caracterização e dispersão de poluentes em ambientes urbanos, estimativas de emissão, planejamento urbano e mitigação/impacto/resiliência a mudanças climáticas. Foi Diretor de Pesquisa da UFES entre 2008 e 2012 e Coordenador Adjunto da área de avaliação da CAPES de Engenharias I, nos anos de 2011 e 2012. Foi membro titular do Conselho Deliberativo do SEBRAE-ES entre 2014 e 2020. Foi Pró-Reitor de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES) e membro titular do Conselho Estadual de Ciência e Tecnologia do Espírito Santo entre 2012 e 2020. Foi presidente da Comissão Estadual de Mudanças Climáticas do ES entre 2021 e 2023. Atualmente é Coordenador do Instituto de Estudos Climáticos da UFES/VALE/FAPES e coordenador do Plano de Descarbonização e Neutralização de Emissões de Gases de Efeito Estufa do ES.
