He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1992), a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (emphasis on genetics) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1994), a Master's degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande (1997) and PhD in Animal Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2004). He has a background in Genetics, with emphasis in Cytogenetics and Molecular Biology, working mainly on the following topics: cytogenetics of politenic chromosomes and characterization of methylation in the genome of different Drosophila species. She has also developed a research on Gene Therapy in MPS I. She is currently a professor of the EBTT career at the College of Application of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul where she coordinates the research group Literacy in Basic Education that works in two lines of research: a) Literacy scientific education in basic education and b) Creative trajectories: curricular research in the final years of Elementary School. He has also been active in the initial and continuing training of teachers through the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Educators Training - LIFE / UFRGS and the Extension Program Creative Paths - CAp / UFRGS that advises teachers of the state education network of Rio Grande do Sul - SEDUC in students aged 15-17 who still remain in elementary school. She is a permanent professor at the Postgraduate Program in Education in Chemistry of Life and Health of UFRGS, acting in the research line Scientific Education: teaching and learning processes at school, university and research laboratory.
Licenciada em Ciências Biológicas (1992) e Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas (ênfase em genética) pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1994); mestre em Genética e Biologia Molecular (1997) e Doutora em Biologia Animal pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2004). Tem formação em Genética, com ênfase em Citogenética e Biologia Molecular, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: citogenética de cromossomos politênicos e caracterização de metilação no genoma de diferentes espécies de Drosophila. Também desenvolveu pesquisa sobre Terapia Gênica na MPS I. Atualmente é professora da carreira de EBTT no Colégio de Aplicação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, onde coordena o grupo de pesquisa Alfabetização Científica no ensino básico que atua em três linhas de pesquisa: a) Alfabetização científica no ensino básico; b) Trajetórias criativas: investigação curricular nos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental; c) Processos de ensino e aprendizagem em ambientes formais e não formais. Atua também na formação inicial e continuada de professores por meio do Laboratório Interdisciplinar de Formação de Educadores - LIFE / UFRGS e do Programa de Extensão Trajetórias Criativos - CAp / UFRGS que assessora docentes da rede pública de ensino no Rio Grande no atendimento a estudantes de 15-17 anos que ainda permanecem no Ensino Fundamental. É professora permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação em Ciências do Instituto de Ciências Básicas da Saúde (ICBS) - UFRGS, atuando na linha de pesquisa Processos de ensino e aprendizagem em ambientes formais e não formais.
