Pesquisa, desde 1996, o universo dos games, animação, produção sonora e audiovisual. Foi produtor artístico e cultural no MIS- Museu da Imagem e do Som e na Fundação Memorial da América Latina. Sócio (e ex-diretor de Educação) da Associação Brasileira de Cinema de Animação, Sociedade Brasileira de Computação, Design Research Society, Society for Animation Studies e da Digital Games Research Association. Cofundador do Seanima- Seminário Brasileiro de Estudos em Animação. Consultor de roteiro e dramaturgia do ANIMATV (SAv/MinC; TV Brasil; TV Cultura) e de outros projetos realizados por estúdios e produtoras. Júri de concursos, prêmios e editais, e consultor ad hoc da Fapesp, Finep e Ancine. Realizador premiado pelo Projeto Rumos Itaú Cultural, ProAC e PRODAV/FSA. Curador do festival internacional de jogos do BIG Festival. Autor do livro Dramaturgia de Série de Animação (ANIMATV, 2011) e coorganizador de Gamificação em Debate (Blucher, 2018) e Desafios da Transmídia - processos e poéticas (Estação das Letras e Cores, 2018). Editor do DATJournal. Professor da PUC-SP (2003-2014). Lecionou na Especialização em Produção de Conteúdo Audiovisual para Multiplataformas da UFSCar, onde também realizou seu pós-doutorado. Professor dos bacharelados em Design de Games e em Animação, Coordenador do PPG Design (Mestrado e Doutorado) da Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (2018-2022). Coordenador Adjunto da Área de Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Design da CAPES (2022-2026).
Sergio Nesteriuk is one of the pioneers of games studies in Brazil, beginning his research in 1996. He holds a PhD, with a dissertation on game and player experience, a M.Phil, with a thesis about interactive storytelling, both in Communication and Semiotics from the Pontifical University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), and a bachelor?s degree in Radio and Television at São Paulo State University (UNESP). He is an academic researcher, independent producer, script and project consultant with international experience, and particular interest in games, animation, film, television series and transmedia. As an independent producer, some of his works have been supported by the São Paulo State Department of Culture and awarded by Rumos Award ? Itaú Cultural Institute.
As an industry professional, his experience is based upon script doctoring and transmedia consulting for Brazilian studios working with animation, television series, movies, games and multiple media content. Among these projects, the ANIMATV program can be highlighted: for the 17 animated series projects done in order to produce a pilot and its production bible, broadcast on a Brazilian Public Television Network.
He is regularly invited to be curatorial, advisor, board member and jury member in festivals, commissions and public tender in games, animation, television series, movies, and transmedia. He is also curator of the games festival of BIG Festival (Brazilian Independent Game Festival), one of the largest independent games event in the World.
As a Senior Lecturer he has been teaching since 2000 in different courses at PUC-SP, and Anhembi Morumbi University: Radio and Television, Digital Media, Multimedia, Game Design, and Animation. He supervised almost a hundred final degree course assessments, some of them awarded and shortlisted. He is a Design Postgraduate Program (Masters and Ph.D.) Coordinator and research leader in DEED ? Design, Entertainment, and Education Research Cluster. He is a peer reviewer (ad hoc consultant) at São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp), the Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (Finep), and the Ministry of Culture of Brazil (MinC).
