Doctor in Law (Philosophy of Law and Politics) and Master in Law (Legal-Political Institutions) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC); Bachelor in Legal and Social Sciences and Specialist in Law Teaching Methodology from the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC). He held Postdoctoral Internships in Philosophy at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS) and in Education at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Graduate Program in Law and Social Justice (PPGDJS) at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). He has also been acting, since 1996, as a consultant for the creation and restructuring of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses in the field of Law. At UFSC, he was Professor of Process Theory at the Department of Law (DIR) and Permanent Professor of the Graduate Program in Law (PPGD), from 1991 to 2016, having held the positions of Coordinator of the Nucleus of Legal Practices (NPJ) , Head of the Department of Law and Coordinator of the Undergraduate Course and the Professional Master's Degree in Law and Access to Justice. At this university, he also coordinated, in 1992, the project to implement the UFSC Forum, the first experience in the world to install a jurisdictional unit within the scope of a Higher Education Institution (HEI), as well as being the author of the Post -Graduation Stricto Sensu Professional in Law (PPGPD), the first Professional Master's degree implanted in a public university and the fourth in the country in general scope. Before UFSC, he was Professor of Studies on Brazilian Problems (EPB) at UNISC, from 1983 to 1991, where he was the first Dean of the Faculty of Law elected by direct vote of students and professors. He is a member of the Instituto Iberomericano de Derecho Procesal (IIDP) and founding partner of the National Council for Research and Graduate Studies in Law (CONPEDI) and the Brazilian Association of Law Education (ABEDi). Research Productivity Scholarship from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). He has published more than a dozen books and more than a hundred articles in collections and specialized magazines, mainly on Education and Legal Research, Educational Law, Human Rights and Access to Justice. In the educational field, the following works should be highlighted: Pedagogical Project of the Graduate Course in Law (2019-2020-2021), Active Legal Education (2020-2021), Curricular Guidelines of the Law Course (2021), Remote education in times of pandemic and post-pandemic (2022) and Applied Legal Research (2023).

Realizou Estágios de Pós-Doutorado em Filosofia na Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS) e em Educação na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Atualmente é Professor Visitante do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Direito e Justiça Social (PPGDJS) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG). Atua, também, desde 1996, como consultor para a criação e reestruturação de Cursos de Graduação e de Pós-Graduação na área do Direito. Na UFSC foi Professor Titular de Teoria do Processo do Departamento de Direito (DIR) e Professor Permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Direito (PPGD), de 1991 a 2016, tendo ocupado os cargos de Coordenador do Núcleo de Práticas Jurídicas (NPJ), Chefe do Departamento de Direito e Coordenador do Curso de Graduação e do Mestrado Profissional em Direito e Acesso à Justiça. Nessa universidade também coordenou, em 1992, o projeto de implantação do Fórum da UFSC, primeira experiência, no mundo, de instalação de uma unidade jurisdicional no âmbito de uma Instituição de Educação Superior (IES), bem como foi o autor do projeto de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu Profissional em Direito (PPGPD), primeiro Mestrado Profissional implantado em uma universidade pública e o quarto do país no âmbito geral. Antes da UFSC, foi Professor Titular de Estudos dos Problemas Brasileiros (EPB) na UNISC, de 1983 a 1991, onde foi o primeiro Diretor da Faculdade de Direito eleito pelo voto direto de alunos e professores. É membro do Instituto Iberomericano de Derecho Procesal (IIDP) e sócio fundador do Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Direito (CONPEDI) e da Associação Brasileira de Ensino do Direito (ABEDi). Bolsista de Produtividade em Pesquisa do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Publicou mais de uma dezena de livros e mais de uma centena de artigos em coletâneas e revistas especializadas, principalmente sobre Educação e Pesquisa Jurídica, Direito Educacional, Direitos Humanos e Acesso à Justiça. No campo educacional cabe destacar as seguintes obras: Projeto Pedagógico do Curso de Graduação em Direito (2019-2020-2021), Educação Jurídica Ativa (2020-2021), Diretrizes Curriculares do Curso de Direito (2021), Educação remota em tempos de pandemia e pós-pandemia (2022) e Pesquisa Jurídica Aplicada (2023).
