Elisa Duarte Teixeira

I am a tenured faculty member at the University of Brasilia Department of Foreign Languages and Translation (LET) Program of Translation ? English since September 2016. I am a member of the Postgraduate Program in Translation Studies (POSTRAD) at the same department. I hold a Ph.D. (2008) and an M.A. (2004) in Modern Languages from the Postgraduate Program in Linguistic and Literary Studies in English at the University of Sao Paulo, Department of Modern Languages, as well as a Specialization / Postgraduate Diploma (2001) in Translation Studies - English, and a B.A. in Linguistics (1997) from the same institution. I also hold an A.A.S. in Culinary Arts (2012) from the El Centro College, in Dallas, Texas, U.S. I was funded by Brazilian agencies CAPES and CNPq during the entirety of my undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Sao Paulo and received a scholarship from CAPES to spend a semester of my Ph.D. doing research at the University of Texas Computational Linguistics Lab, in at Austin, TX, U.S. From 2002 to 2006, I worked as in-house translator and taught English for Special Purposes and Translation at private universities in Sao Paulo, and from January 2013 to August 2016, I worked as Project Manager for the Brazil Platform at Global REACH, the international office of the University of Michigan Medical School, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I also spent a year conducting research and developing collaboration projects, in 2021-2022. I lead the Research Group TermiTraDiCo (Corpus-Driven Terminology and Translation), co-leads COMPLETT (Multiligual Corpus for Researching Foreign Languages, Translation and Terminology), and is responsible for the research track ?Terminology of Mobility? with the MOBILANG (Mobility and Languages in Contact) group. My main areas of interest are Translation and sociodiscursive practices, Corpus Linguistics, Terminology, and Specialized Translation, with a focus on cooking translation.

É Professora Adjunta de Tradução - Inglês do Departamento de Línguas Estrangeiras e Tradução (LET) e orientadora junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Tradução, POSTRAD, do Instituto de Letras da Universidade de Brasília. Possui Doutorado (2008) e Mestrado (2004) em Letras pelo Programa de Estudos Linguísticos e Literários em Inglês do Departamento de Letras Modernas da Universidade de São Paulo, Especialização de Longa Duração em Tradução - Inglês pela Universidade de São Paulo (2001) e Bacharelado em Letras - Linguística, também pela Universidade de São Paulo (1997). Foi bolsista doutorado-sanduíche pela CAPES no Computational Linguistics Lab da University of Texas at Austin, EUA, e bolsista CNPq e CAPES durante a pós-graduação e a graduação. Possui A.A.S. (Associate in Applied Science Degree) em Culinary Arts pelo El Centro College de Dallas, TX - EUA (2012). Desenvolveu pesquisa de Pós-Doutorado junto ao Language Resource Center, College of Literature, Science and the Arts, na Universidade de Michigan - Ann Arbor, MI, EUA de 2021 a 2022. Foi professora universitária de inglês técnico e de teoria e prática de tradução em cursos de Especialização em Tradução - Inglês, em São Paulo, de 2002 a 2006. É tradutora freelance, com especialização em culinária desde 2002. Trabalhou como gerente de projeto na Brazil Platform do Global REACH, escritório de relações internacionais da Escola de Medicina da Universidade de Michigan, em Ann Arbor, U.S.A, de janeiro de 2013 a agosto de 2016.
