Ana Eliza Pereira Bocorny
Ana is an Associate Professor at the Department of Modern Languages, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. She holds a Ph.D. in Language Studies, (UFRGS), a Master's in Education (PUCRS) and a specialization in English for Specific Purposes (Lancaster University - UK). Her research interests lie in Applied Linguistics, English for Specific Purposes, English for Academic Purposes and Corpus Linguistics. As a Visiting Scholar at the Northern Arizona University (NAU - Corpus Research Lab), she worked with the study of formulaic language in research articles across disciplines. In Brazil, she currently coordinates the Centre of Languages for Academic Purposes (CLA) at UFRGS. She has experience in teacher education, ESP (English for Specific Purposes) and EAP (English for Academic Purposes) teaching, with emphasis on teaching ERPP (English for Research Publication Purposes), working mainly with terminology, specialized languages, digital resources to support writing and reading, and digital learning objects (DLO). From 2014 to 2017 she was the Pedagogical Coordinator of the Languages without Borders (LwB) Program at UFRGS and from 2017 to 2019, the General Coordinator of the same program.
graduation at Licenciatura Plena Em Letras Português/Inglês from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1988), master's at Education from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1998) and doctorate at Language from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2008). Has experience in Language, acting on the following subjects: linguistica de corpus, aviação, lexicografia pedagógica especializada, linguagem de especialidade and terminologia.
