Jacobus Willibrordus Swart

Jacobus W. Swart holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1975), a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1981), and post-doctoral degrees from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (1983) and the Research Triangle Institute, USA (1991). He has been a full professor at the State University of Campinas since May 1997. After retiring in June 2013, he maintains his position as a collaborating professor at FEEC/UNICAMP. He has experience in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on Semiconductor Materials and Components, working mainly on the following topics: technologies and design of Si and GaAs integrated circuits, CMOS, HBT, thin films, plasma etching and nanoelectronics. He was director of CCS/UNICAMP from 1998 to 2005 and director of CTI from 2007 to 2011. He was president of SBMicro for two terms. He was a member of CA-EE of CNPq for two terms and was also a member of the CD of CNPq for 4 years. He is a Distinguished Lecturer and was secretary and elected member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Electron Device Society. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and received the 2020 EDS/IEEE Distinguished Service Award. He is an elected member of ACIESP and ANE. He is a PQ-1A fellow by CNPq. He was coordinator of the CI-Brasil program of MCTI from 2007 to 2013 and coordinates the INCT NAMITEC research network since 2001, currently without financial resources, but awarded with an INCT Certificate by CNPq. Between 2013 and 2020 he worked as consultant and representative of imec from Belgium. Currently he is financial director of SBMicro.

Jacobus W. Swart possui graduação em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1975), doutorado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1981) e pós-doutorado pela Universidade Católica de Leuven, Bélgica (1983) e pelo Research Triangle Institute, USA (1991). É professor titular da Universidade Estadual de Campinas, desde maio de 1997. Após aposentadoria em junho de 2013, mantém o cargo de professor colaborador na FEEC/UNICAMP. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Elétrica, com ênfase em Materiais e Componentes Semicondutores, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: tecnologias e projeto de circuitos integrados de Si e de GaAs, CMOS, HBT, filmes finos, corrosão por plasma e nanoeletrônica. Foi diretor do CCS/UNICAMP de 1998 a 2005 e diretor do CTI de 2007 a 2011. Foi presidente da SBMicro por duas gestões. Foi membro do CA-EE do CNPq por duas gestões e também foi membro do CD do CNPq por 4 anos. É "Distinguished Lecturer" e foi secretário e membro eleito do Board of Governors do Electron Device Society do IEEE. É Life Fellow do IEEE e recebeu o EDS/IEEE Distinguished Service Award 2020. Ele é membro eleito da ACIESP e da ANE. Ele é bolsista PQ-1A pelo CNPq. Foi coordenador do programa CI-Brasil do MCTI de 2007 a 2013 e coordena a rede de pesquisa INCT NAMITEC desde 2001, atualmente sem recurso financeiro, mas contemplado com certificado Selo INCT pelo CNPq. Entre 2013 e 2020 ele trabalhou como consultor e representante do imec da Bélgica. Atualmente ele é diretor financeiro da SBMicro.
